So I leave in the morning for the eight hour drive South to Hawks Ridge for IBS Nationals. Two weeks ago it was West Virginia for GBA Nationals. I have a checklist but I still worry that I am forgetting something even after I have gone over it three times! It must be a combination of being excited and worried at the same time but I always seem to have this feeling that I am forgetting something and these are items that can't be purchased along the way. I will probably wake up in the morning thinking about it and won't stop until I'm a couple hours down the road!

Anyone else have this issue or is it just me? Please tell me I'm not alone here.

Dave.

Dave.

I start a day early anymore on the supplies and loading the vehicle. A few things that worried me before just stay in the vehicle and never leave.

And that is why the bolt is always in the rifle.

We must not have a bolt in our rifles until we are about to shoot and can not leave the mound with a bolt in the rifle nor have one in the rifle at the range. Some states you are not allowed to store the rifle with the bolt in the same safe, so forgotten bolts are an issue here. Just keep it in your range bag.

I guess that is why my RPA came with a pouch specifically for the bolt.

Yeah
That’s a lot of stuff to keep track of, most everyone would stress a bit. So no it’s not just you.

I can't say how many times I've second guessed my self and stopped at the bottom of my driveway (1/4 mile from the house) and looked back through my gear. The bolt is always at the top of the list in my head, lol.

5 guys heading to Montana to shoot pd, one of the guys had his son get his scoped single shot 223. He opened the case, setting up first day, pulled out a scoped single shot shotgun. We let him shoot the close stuff the first morning with his 17wsm, next 2 days he had to setup quick if he wanted any close shots.

Have a list to check

Find a place like the garage or close to the door, put all of your stuff together before loading it.

Check the list again before loading

Load everything and check the list again.
