Only exception would be a collet neck dieIf you're neck-only sizing, you may get away with it, especially with coated bushings. But you're not really sizing the case. Even if you *can* neck size without it, I would recommend using it for smoother operation and better consistency.

I have had 30 carbine get stuck in my carbide die. I touch my fingers in a tub of Unique lube, once my fingers get saturated I just touch the tub every 3 to 5 cases. I've had one tub of lube for 30 years.Pistol or rifle?
If pistol, carbide dies or not?
If pistol and carbide, it's not necessary but the press does run smoother with lubed cases.
If resizing a bottleneck cartridge case, we recommend dipping the case neck into Imperial Application Media to lubricate the inside and outside of the case neck with dry neck lube
