@TRSR8 - You're not wrong about what you wrote, but that bank would have been fine if there hadn't been significant withdrawals.

That's the confidence part of the story and what makes that bank a possible domino. If enough people hear the story of SVB, and decide they have less confidence in their bank than they did last week resulting in significant withdrawals from smaller regional banks with similar unrecognized losses then you could some (many) more closures.

Would not be surprised to see a larger bank or the Govt./Fed step in and 'fix' this if for no other reason than to maintain 'confidence' of the people.

On the other hand, maybe bank closures is just what some are dreaming. It might pave the way for a FedCoin/CBDC.

Hank
Well you have to remember that no bank, not one, keeps 100%of deposit balances in cash or super short term, so from that perspective ANY. Bank could theoretically suffer similar fate, but there has to be a catalyst.
SVB has huge assets, but with a. withdrawals happening fast and b.the fact that those withdrawals were typically from institutions with huge average deposits, they would have to take large, probably avoidable, losses to meet the run, which is why the regulators stepped in to allow an orderly asset repositioning and likely acquisition by another financial. It owned almost entirely US govt. bonds, just all on the long end, most of which can easily be absorbed into the market instantly.
Lets remember this is/was a very large bank serving a very important function which would be quite desirable to many buyers, especially at a discount.

Question for those familiar with bank operations - how much cash does a branch have available to disburse? Are there any guidelines/rules used to establish the amount? Reason for asking is a recent experience I had with two local branches requesting a $5000.00 cash withdrawal. Neither could honor on demand and both told me it would take nearly a week!

Banks do not keep a large amount of cash on hand. Some of the cash the do hold is reserved for their commercial customers. They depend on armored trucks to deliver daily. If they desire, they can order any amount the need overnight. The armored truck companies have millions of dollars on hand. Sometimes a robbery of an armored truck can net millions. That's just one truck out of many. One of my relatives who worked for Brinks told me that there were times he had over ten million dollars on board for delivery.

That's why its called "Fractional Reserve banking"

TC pointed out, where very few others in the media would, that those that were incarcerated were denied their Constitutional rights, and many, to this day, remain in prison unjustly. On my local news, I still see them rounding up local people who attended the rally. The amount of money and resources expended on this witchhunt conducted by the dems is astounding. This is a LE priority over every other crime problem going on in this country?
BTW the "goofball mental case" was a Navy vet that was diagnosed 15 years ago with mental issues. How is it that he is incarcerated for 4 years for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, yet the streets of some cities are crowded with "goofball mental cases" (many non-vets) who set fires, deficate in public, club passersby unprovoked, etc, etc. without so much as spending one night in lock-up?
I don't disagree with a thing you said.

My assessment of Shaman guy as "goofball nutcase" is not a 20-20 hindsight characterization. Rather it was descriptive of the internal assessment a cop in the situation they were in may make. And though not PC, it wasn't unfair.

You mean it was all set up and created just to create conflicting main stream media
narratives?? Why would anyone want to do that??
Nope, not at all what I meant.

Life doesn't happen that way.

However, history would indicate that large groups of people have been influenced by "spin" not only to do things in the moment, but can also be manipulated when (two sides) narrate an event to obtain a desired result.

I think the media (so-called) will cut and paste, narrate and influence to thier desired result without any shame.
Think "mostly peaceful protests", "social credit", Kristalnacht, "mission accomplished" , "just giving a tour". Not one of those statements is truthful.

I read there are a couple guys that started an index fund to specifically do the opposite of what Jim Cramer says to do
Its a very popular fund, SJIM is its name and of course its always ahead since it invests in the opposite of what cramer recommends. He is a disaster.

It is more complicated than that. SVB was heavily invested in low interest treasury bonds. Prices have crashed as rates increased. Couple that to their buy back of own stock shares. & don't forget all those EDI programs funded...It adds up....mike in ct
WHY should, the Tax Payers "Bailout" the Stupid Investment Bankers ???
Nobody Bail's, my sorry aszz out,.. when I make, an Investment,.. "Mistake"

To be fair, I reviewed TC's broadcast on Youtube and think you are placing too much emphasis on his "tour guide" characterization. TC's narrative on the videos do not misrepresent what is being shown- i.e. people just walking around the capital. He did show the mainstream media clips of illicit activities outside and be assured only the most incriminating clips were allowed to be released early on. He pointed out the lies about 6 police being killed that day, that some insurrectionists were armed -with flagpoles. He made no mention of Ashley Babbit which if his intent was to create bias this ommision does not seem plausible. His main point was to show the absurd manner in which the "insurrection" at the Capital was presented to the public. The government had evidence to hide and was the reason the clips were not made public for 2 years.

There might be, an Opportunity to, get some OTHER, "Good" Stocks, "On Sale",.. in the Next few Days for, the "Ballsy",..
With,.. "Cash" !
I don't think that, THIS chit, is 2008 all over, again ( Hopefully ).

Yeah, a woke fed destroying a woke bank. The woke are eating their own. Very entertaining.
Really?? Is it somehow a surprise with 9% inflation, the Fed was going to raise rates?
Please stop in the gift shop on your way out….buy an economics 101 book while there.

The CEO of this bank is/was a very young oriental woman who was put there to satisfy the woke checkboxes and not due to her superior knowledge of the business marketplace.
No shit? Well apparently she changed her name to Gregory Becker and transitioned into a tall, bald, white guy.

P.S. CEO’s don’t make these calls, investment committees make these calls.
Done now….I’ve got a headache.
