is Alex' scope checking thread gone?

Let me think on how to do it, I may start a new thread with instructions on how to test and the data collected so far. If it stay a testing thread I would leave it up

That would be awesome man. It would be great if it could somehow be controlled where it doesn't turn in to a big mess.

I've thought about buying a scope checker a bunch of times...

Tag fore Sure.

I've been doing the yearly optic test every spring on the 4 main shooters I have.

I practic the old school format,,, if the reticle MOA lines and dial-up match,,, along with the 60-to-60-return to Zero checks out after "Best" out of 3,,, I go ahead and with the parallax tuning process.

It the optic fails in test 1,,, I use them on the 22 rimfires for plinking, big game gopher hunting,,, and Texas Windage Yote popping. Ha.

Even a garbage optic gets a second life up here in the frozen North.

If a guy wants to skip testing, buy a Kahles, thats my advise.

That's what I did. Partly because of the results from Alex's testing, but Tom also took a larger sampling of the Kahles 1050 and duplicated the results. It was hard to ignore that data. Plus, I already had a Kahles 624 so I was familiar with the brand and quality

Otherwise, every test is a discrete event, even the Kahles tests. N=1.

I had a pop-up that looked suspicious so I bailed. Maybe it's okay but I run scared with this stuff.

LOL!

I'm settin' off the kitchen while My Beloverly is makin' thee biscuits and some busty russian broad tries to crawl out my screen to muckle my 10-yrold..... yeahh.....

I am very interested in testing my scopes. I've heard of a Hood scope checker. Are there any others on the market? Also who freezes scopes?

If the rifle on which you’d like to conduct the testing has a Picatinny rail or is a Kelbly’s Panda F-Class, yes, ours will serve u well. We have uppers for Picatinny, dovetail , and one of each. Many frozen scopes come with dovetail rings that cannot be removed, hence the options. We are almost completely out of stock at the moment, but have more in production. Should be available before Jan 1.

If you want to use a rifle with a Davidson rail to conduct the testing, contact @gunsandgunsmithing

If someone sends me the data, I’d be happy to post it as an article on bisonballistics.com. A write up on how it’s done and a few pictures would be helpful too. Part of the problem is that an Internet forum is a lousy way to store data.
