Is a Dasher really worth it???

I shoot 2 straight 6br's now. A 12 twist and an 8 twist. I have thought of going to a Dasher in an 8 twist this fall.

I don't shoot any further than 600yards

I have read and heard first hand from some guys who shoot the Dasher and other improved versions of problems with loose primer pockets on just 3-4 firings. When loading to the 32 gr area with Varget.

Is it really worth it for the 100fps you may see?
Is the primer pocket issue something common?

I think this is going to be a matter of personal preference at 600 yards. I am able to reload Lapua fireformed 6dasher brass up to 35 times and primer pockets are OK. Either round is awesome.

Only problems I ever had with primer pockets was using too hot of a load to blow out brass. Just remembered when I first started shooting a dasher i was using rl-15. In the summer heat and humidity 90 degress plus, imhad some hot loads thst loosened a few pockets. Varget took care of that problem. I have reloaded 6-7 times with no primer pocket problems. I am running 32.5 varget with 105-108 bullets.

You wouldn't loosen pockets in Dasher anymore than 6br. It's the same brass

I believe most guys are running the Dasher at higher pressures. In efforts to achieve the velocity gain they were hoping for.

My Dashers I use H4350 36.6gr 3060fps 59943 psi on quick load and I never had a primer problem.With Varget and RL15 I could never get that speed with out primer problems .150 fps is the norm and going to a dasher Good Shooting Larry

That must be the key my buddy is missing. Going to a slower powder.
Ill relay this to him. I wondered about H4350 if you could get enough in the case it to get there

I have been shooting 6BR's for about 20 years, and shooting, 6BR IMP for 12 years. I had a 6BRBS first, it is close to a Dasher. I had it build for a 1000yds Light gun. It did very. I punched a 6BR to a 6BR in 2005 for 600 yds. Benchrest , and shot 3 IBS records with it. I think the IMP are worth it.

Mark do you use Varget or a slower powder? To achieve these results

I ran 34 grains of rl 15 in a broughton barrel for 3150 fps, got over 20 loads out of the brass. I could use 33.6 in another one. Another benefit of the dasher is you dont have to trim your cases.

What are you guys doing with neck diameter ? Are most going with a .269 or there about for a complete clean up or a .271 no turn?
I also have a 6ppc for 100yds. So neck turning doesn't bother me

I'm going to go for it and order a reamer or maybe find one here in classifieds that suits my needs. I'm thinking .104 freebore for the Berger 105

Mine is .2705 with .132 freebore made for the 105 hybrid with H4350 Good Shooting Larry

I used Kiff's .2704"neck and .104" FB. Sets the Hybrid's perfectly above the junction.

Loads have been 32.8 and 33.2of RL15, 2,990 and 3,050 fps respectively.

Easy to fireform, no turning and brass lasts if you don't overpressure it.

F-Open winner at 600 and 1K.

I am still stunned by what a 6 Dasher can do and almost fell over when I saw the target! I have 2 Dashers and both were chambered with same reamer by Dave Bruno. .268 neck and .125 freebore. I shoot the Berger 105H in both.

This is my second year with my Dasher. I run 33 gr RL15, and 105 Amax. No pressure problems at all, at least yet. I was working on a 1K zero the other day at 100 yards and shot 4 into .178. I love this thing. Barlow

Great group Frank. Are you jamming the 105gr Hybrids or jumping? We've had best luck with these about .015 to .020 away from the lands, in a .110 FB chamber, four-groove Bartlein.

Thank you Forum Boss! I am jumping them exactly .010 and my first Dasher also likes them at same seating depth. Whereas my 8 twist 6BR runs best with the Hybrids at .005 off. Best advice for anyone trying these 105 Hybrids for first time is start them out @ .010 off and you will be in the ballpark. This gun sports a Rock Creek fluted 5R barrel and with NF comp scope weighs 16 lb. 7 oz.
