Is a AMP Annealer an essential piece of equipment for everyone?

Sambuca is underrated
I've read many comments regarding the AMP annealer but am still undecided regarding my purchase. for those purists out there, do you consider annealing an essential function of reloading regardless of skill level?

Everyone? No. If your shooting $280/100 338 lapua brass, necking down your brass, or fire forming then the amp machine will get you more life out of your brass and possibly better results. Also you need to consider your discipline and abilities. Are you shooting at your local range for fun at beer cans or are you trying to beat all these gold members on here at benchrest that design their own calibers?

Your goals and your money, what are you trying to accomplish? For me yes is the answer, trying to produce the most consistent ammo I can to shoot the small dot at 100, 200 or 300 yards. I'm looking for consistent neck tension, repeatable loading and extended life of the brass (least important). So again for me it is a yes.

IMO It's a great piece of equipment and a pleasure to use. I had one for a few years & sold it. For the major part of my shooting, I enjoy loading at the range rolling over the same batch of brass through the day with time restrictions that don't allow for the use of the AMP. My shooting has not suffered since selling it....But I am definitely NOT in the top % of shooters......close, but no cigar yet...:D

Rick

For short range, not essential.

For long range where velocity variation is crucial, good annealing is nearly essential.

I agree with each of you who say that I should have posted in a different section of the forum. It's not necessary to beat a dead horse. I hope you don't take the time to read the responses to my post in this section.

I made a mistake. I did repost my question in the appropriate section of this forum. Is there something else that you would like to add?

For me my Benchsource annealer is essnential.Proper application of however you anneal is what is important , not the brand. A know shooters who do not anneal and do very well. Don't get hung up on absolutes. There is more than one way to skin a cat, as they say. Gather information and make an informed decision of what works for you. I read some 30 year old Percision Shooting Magazines and xhuckle at how some loading prodeutes have changed 180 degrees.
