Iosso Eliminator blue nylon brushes

Question:
When using brushes in your bore, do you use a bore guide, and in the case of a bolt gun, do you pull the guide partially out of position after the brush pops out the end of the guide, in order to scrub the neck/freebore/throat area? Just wondering if leaving the guide in it’s normal position, without backing it out leaves uncleaned areas. Thanks

My Bore Guides have an "O"-ring in the snout and the O-Ring seals the chamber about 1/3 to 1/2 the way in the body portion of the chamber so I can still get to the Lead / Throat and even the neck area. The bore guide I'm using is sized per caliber & I use a Bore-Tech Bore-Stix coated rod with the correct size of jag, brush, mop, etc. and they can pass through the snout of the bore-guide. - I keep the barrel pointed slightly downward to prevent back flow of solvents into action areas & the trigger group. - All the while I maintain the seal with the O-Ring bore-guide.

I recently bought a Rem 700 in 204 Ruger. I have BoreTech
Nylon Brushes in 22 and 6MM, the type that is not affected by the solvent. I am very happy w/this brand.
At any rate, I was ordering from Brownells, and due to the price I order the cheaper Dewey Nylon bushes for the 204, thinking
due to the brand, it would be a good product. That was not the case, the Dewey pushed through the bore w/little resistance.
I called Brownells and they sent me a return label. I replaced them w/the BoreTech brand which is obviously a better product.

In looking at the picture of blue bristle brush I notice it has a shaft of the same material that any bronze brush would have, therefore the ELIMINATOR title is a misnomer because you will and can get a false copper reading. Just my 02 cents on Nylon brushes. LDS

Larry, are you saying that we get a false coppering from the brush itself. I spent all afternoon yesterday brushing and patching, brushing and patching. When I brush with Butch's bore shine and then follow with a patch, it comes out a deep blue. Just pushing a patch thru, after 3 or 4 them, they come out white.

Thats exactly what I'm saying. If you dont have a brush that is totally unaffected by your cleaning solvent, your first patch will go BLUE on ya. The BoreTech Nylon Proof Positive is such a brush. Also look at the tip of your rod, and your jag, whats it made of?? If its bronze or brass, these simple unthought of items can give you a false blue patch.

Yes, right after annealing and prior to sizing.

I have some of these in addition to black nylon and metal brushes. I’ll give them a try this weekend in a barrel that normally takes 2-4 passes with the metal or 20ish with the nylon and report back.

Pulling an fguffey and quoting myself. Just spent an hour trying to clean my barrel with the blue brush. Couldn’t get her clean and was only fouled slightly (30 rounds). Now I filled er full of foam and am going to bed. One patch in the morning ought to do it. And that’s all I have to say about that.
