Internet Etiquette

This is a subject that causes me some concern and wanting to know others input.
Concerning Buying/Selling

A- posted :
Looking for a Right Hand Gobbily Gook or left hand

B- reply :
I have a nice RH GG for sale it is one owner less than 70000 rounds PM me if interested

C- THIS is where I have a issue

another member replies to to B that he is interested in the RH GG

Is this NOT THREAD JUMPING ?

Jim

Jim,
Sounds like "Old School" irritation. Look at all the other things that have changed over time. If thread jumping is the worst we'll see, then we should probably count our blessings as the new age has also brought on a lot more CLASSLESSNESS!

TO me the problem lies not woth the thread jumper but with the op as he should respond with a HARSH reply and call the thread jumper out. people are afraid to call it the way it is anymore. sorry buts it is a pet peave.

I would say that that is just getting in line should the first deal not be completed.

This is the way I would take it. It could be worded different, but it is up to "B" to make sure "A" gets first opportunity.

The problem with anything on the internet is you don't know how people sound, so people reading it can interpret it any way they want.

I see the solution... 6.5x47L. thank you.

(Agree on seconds or just simple PMs why lost in thread?)

I get C quite a bit but it is usually very politely done with the caveat "if A isn't interested". Also, usually it occurs hours later after A has had a shot at it. I see no harm if done right.

Back in the bad old days when net access cost you $1.59 a minute, etiquette was King, and violators were dealt with harshly. Now that everything is considered 'free', its just that- a free-for-all.

I jumped a thread the other day for a reason. I have suspicion that a new member may be a scammer. This is on 2 WTB threads. I may be wrong, but he was still on line and I asked for pictures, gave him my email address and still have had no response. This is the first time ever that I have done something like this. My etiquette is usually good.

It's pretty simple to me:
If it's your thread and someone "jumps it" then say something or forever hold your piece. No need for someone else to come and help you out just deal with it if it bothers you.

If it isn't your thread it's not your problem stay out of it. No need to run around the internet defending other people.

We have world of different people and etiquette and respect can slightly differ from person to person so a quick back on track if you don't like where your threads going is cool, No need to lose your head over a simple overstep. The only time I think we should all chime in is if it looks like a scam! then we are protecting our forum.
