I came across these and decided to take them home because I've never seen anything like them - bullberry machine turned 18.3 grain bullets that have a very interesting shape to them and a sharp tip. I also picked up a box of 30 grainers that may or may not be sisk which also have an interesting shape. And of course some 30 grain berger varmint, not sure I've seen them in the wild before either. Anyway, I thought I'd share for conversation sake - not sure if these would shoot better in the fireball or the hornet.

Reminds me of days gone by when 17 bullets were very plentiful in many weight choices. Lots of fun shooting the ole Berger 22 grainers. at pd’s. Sisk was a little before my time but I know a guy that still has a few. I appreciate the pictures too and like taking an excursion back to those days once in awhile. Who remembers their first Varmint shot with a 17, mine was definitely a pd.

I'm not extremely knowledgeable on the bullet making process, but after seeing these Bullberry machined bullets it's interesting to me that more manufacturers aren't making them. I worked at a facility that had a 7 axis auto lathe that could feed bar stock for 3 days continuously with minimal oversight from a machinist. I guess there's either not enough demand to drive innovation or these will be terribly inaccurate.

I think "Hammer" bullets are lathe turned.
The early Nolser partition bullets were turned bullets. You could see the lines on the nose of the bullet.

From what I've seen and read it really seems like turned mono metal bullets do much better in larger bores. The ELR stuff they sent to do quite well.

I'd bet those 30 gr. Sisk bullets would really work well in a 17 Fireball for Coyotes!

I know some people collect this type of stuff, if anyone wants one for their collection I'd be happy to send a few of them out. For free of course, just not too many - I want to load some up and try to pop a groundhog this year to test them out.
