Interarms Mark X Action

Just picked up one of these actions new in the box today (couldn't pass up the price). Is this suitable to build a Benchrest or F-Class gun on?

Serial # is pretty low so should be an early import and is made in Yugoslavia.

Most will tell you no. But I know of a prone shooter that won a couple trophies at Perry with a 300 win mag built on a commercial Mauser. It can be done, but maybe not the ideal start.

I think you would be much better off with another receiver and sell that one.

It's a good action but the issue will be lock time. They are slower than the target actions. There are things that can be done to improve them but the bottom line is that you'll have to have better form to be competitive. If you want to have fun, go for it. Solid action, it will need to be trued as any other action, great hunting action.

That prone shooter listed above was Kent Reeve. He could win a Palma Match with 155grainers and a wrist rocket. One of the best prone shooters ever.

There is noting wrong with a Mauser Action, just get a good trigger.

Kent is without a doubt the best I've ever seen. That being said, he usually had rifles and ammo that shoot lights out.
