Instant grits/cream of wheat, fire forming

Would it matter if instant grits were used instead of cream of wheat to fire form ?
I ask for a friend that has instant grits he bought by accident instead of 5 min grits his woman told him to buy ....she said he has to finish them before ....well you know.

I read somewhere on this site that INSTANT wasn't a good choice. Can't remember if it was COW or grits. The instant version had a tendency to foul the barrel REALLY bad.
A small box of regular grits can't be that expensive. The store brand is cheaper.

Instant grits ain't for eating. They're for fire forming.

Well yayuh, they will do that if you cook 'em first!.

Didn't have any COW or grits (instant or otherwise) or Malt-o-Meal on hand when I wanted to FF some cases a couple years back.

Grabbed plain old corn meal, worked fine. After a few rounds'd been fired the air around me smelled like somebody was cookin' tortillas.

Well, there yea go ! COW has extra iron so i use that ! Those 1'' patches are a good fit also.
Tight group 12.5 ish with 1/4 COW & 1'' cotton patch is my recipe here. I'll know This time tomorrow how they formed.
Off to the range i go......
I do see that corn meal would be even cheaper.

Has anyone used Brioschi ? It good for Agita also.

Sorry for the humongo image, no option

Mr Guffey,

I'd appreciate it if you could post something on how you form before firing.

I'm kinda into simple and easy---always open to look at better methods.

Thanks,
