Installing Savage Ultralite Stock - Where does this go?

Hey, I've gotta swallow my pride and ask if anyone knows where exactly this small piece goes. I believe it's supposed to fit in the rear action screw. No matter how I try to put it in, it always causes the trigger guard to push out from the stock. In other words, the trigger guard will not fit flush when this piece is installed.
If anyone has a Savage Ultralite and wouldn't mind checking, I'd be awfully grateful.

Here's the piece in question.

It looks like it should go here...

Maybe try swapping the shorter piece to the rear action screw, and longer/taller one in the front action screw location,

Good idea, but I'm certain the piece thats in the front action screw does belong there. I saw it there when I removed the stock.

Here's what happened originally. When I was taking the stock off the piece in the picture fell out and I'm almost certain it came from the rear action screw assembly area.

If you study it long enough, You will figure out where it goes. Some people are born with mechanical reasoning, Others it's a learned, Or gained skill.

Go on Numrich and try to find your model number, They most likely have an exploded diagram showing where the part goes.
