Here you go.
That's what I'd expect for a 1970s rifle. Anschutz stopped marking the specific model number around 1965.
Here you go.
That’s the same stamping on the barrel I have .
Love the running boar models. Mine is the only one ive seen in person6-dasher,
Here is a bit of history for you. My Metallic Silhouette shooting partner, Bill Ackerman from Weaver T-Model scope fame was contacted prior to the MS 54 was brought to market. Bill told Dieter Anschutz I was stationed in Germany. Dieter called and asked me to come down to the factory and lend a hand concerning the height of the cheekpiece, etc. Lones Wigger, I believe had a hand in the stock design prior to me. But I had a T-model scope with me & Ackerman had sent him bases for the action. So off to the factory Larry went with a smile on his face. We mounted the scope and proceeded to almost kill a poor German gunsmith. We would try out the fit while looking through the scope off-hand and then the poor guy had to go down several floors to his workshop and take a bit more off the stock until Dieter & I were happy with it. He made a lot of trips! So if it doesn’t fit you, blame Dieter!
I also have a 54MS I got at the factory, but it is Left/Left and Dieter put a running bore barrel on it. This has a short barrel (about 16”) and then a bloop tube with removable weights to adjust balance. I hadn’t shot it since the early ‘90s, but mounted a 15-55x NF just as the virus hit. The first & only group at 50yards with OLD match ammo was 0.262”. I’ll get back to it when my range opens again.
