Info on Pentax Lightseeker 30 scopes

Was wondering if anyone here has used the new gen Pentax Lightseeker 30 side focus scopes in 8X32?

I know they are made by Burris and the black diamond line seems to have a good reputation. However, the Pentax scopes may not be identical.

I picked up the last gen of Pentax and was horrified to find the turrents had 7.5min per revolution. Which rocket scientist thought that one up?

I am wondering if the turrents now have whole number revolutions like 8 or 12 or 15?

These seem like good valued scopes. I presently shoot with Elite 4200 6X24 mil dot scopes and really like them. However, I like the idea of more mag when mirage is low. The Nightforce BR is a no brainer but so is the price.

Update: Just got off the phone with Pentax customer service. Looks like that goofy 7.5 Min per revolution is still part of their turrent system. That is such a royal pain when having to adjust multiple ranges so I don't think this is a scope I will pursue.

Seems the Burris shares the same turrent system and would appreciate any feedback from Burris owners.

"Horrified"? Come on, take a deep breath and relax.

Lots of us like 1/8 MOA adjustments, and hence you get 7.5 revolutions per TURRET.,Not turrent, which isn't a word...)

Like the Burris BD, the Pentax LS30 is an excellent scope for a good price.

God forbid you realize that changing magnification results in the whole ocular assembly rotating, instead of just the ring as is typical with other variable power scopes. You might pass out.

Nate check the accuracy of your own posts before correcting someone else's.

He said nothing about 7.5 revolutions....

7.5 MOA per revolution was the point.

And for a tactical or LR scope, it is an odd configuration.

I prefer scopes with 10 MOA per revolution... makes it very easy to look at the turret and see where you are from your established zero.

Guys ask questions looking for assitance, not condesending remarks or comments.

NateHaler, thanks for catching the typo...and missing the point!

I am quite familiar with 1/8MOA click scopes with target TURRETS. I own several. They even have 7.5 Min per revolutions.

HOWEVER, they are marked 0 - 15 per revolution with 4 clicks per number. They are easy to use as you simply double the 'number' needed as opposed to a 1/4MOA click scope.

A 10min adjustment would be a 10number change with a 1/4 click scope and a 20number change with the 1/8 click. Easy.

The Pentax and Burris BD have the turrets marked 8 1/2 numbers, not the 7 1/2 I had said originally). Yep, 0 - 8.5 then back to zero again.

7...8...click, click, click, click....0 or should I say 8 1/2. Now '1' becomes 9.5,'2' becomes 10.5 etc. Then we wrap around and the values change again.

Do the math on that one....
