info on die set

I just bought a lot of reloading equiptment and there was a set of rcbs dies #55000 neck set 6.5x257 anyone have any info on this caliber is this based off of 257 Roberts thanks

Yes, I have Japanese rifles that are chambered to the 6.5mm257 Roberts. I also have the chamber reamer, nothing improved the 6.5mm50 chamber more than going with the 257 Roberts. The 257 Roberts made it possible to have unlimited case availability.

#55000 is a number used for non production dies sets. The 6.5X58 Portuguese dies have the same number..

The cost for the die is $99.00 from Midwas USA. The die can be used for necking the 7mm57 case to 6.5mm 257 Roberts.

The die is more expensive than I first though, $99.00. That puts the value of the die up into the category of the forming die.

You don't really need a separate die to neck 7X57 to 6.5X257. You are only talking about .5 mm which is about .020.
But suppose if you really needed such a thing you could use a 6.5X55 trim die just for the neck or you could cut off a garden variety .270 die. Neither are very expensive and the .270 die is really common.

his a 2 die set also includes the seating die.....I did not know how much it was worth ....thanks to everyone for the comments
