Due to poor eyesight I need an illuminated center reticle to continue shooting. Limited budget and need to keep it down as much as possible in cost.. I shoot HP Silhouette and need repeatable adjustments and, if possible, not to heavy. Five to Seven hundred if possible. If you suggest used please be specific as I am not current on scopes with limited knowledge of who, how and what.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

I am in the same boat and I am considering either Meopta or Trjicon. Eurooptics has a strong sale on select Triijicons right now, but they are MIL models. For your upper price the Meopta and Sightron STAC can be had with a zero stop. None of those are Chinese.

This Sightron S-TAC would be on the top of my list. Buchanan Accuracy is a site sponsor here and is a solid source for Sightron products.

What kind of power ranges are needed for your shooting?

24x max and generally will use 16-18x. Dedicated HP Silhouette use with a max range of 500 meters. All shot offhand so any more than 24 is wasted with my unsteady hold. More power - more apparent wobble in my hold.

That Sightron above would be a good one then if you use first focal plane instead of second focal plane.

Just been offered a NIB Zeiss Conquest 6-24 illuminated for 900.00. as the Sightron. Opinions?

Have you had your vision tested recently? Cataracts? I know lots of shooters that just needed a prescription or cataract surgery to get back to using scopes without issues.

That aside what is your budget for a scope? there are so many options with illumination. Nightforce has some nice ones. Do you want the best bang for the buck or just the top end best?

$500 to $700 -with a little creep possible if required.

Had cataract surgery with the "Best eye surgeon in Houston Texas". Left eye regained 90% vision and right eye botched - 4 specialty operations later can't see the crosshairs in a regulars (Leupold) scope. Can see a red dot though and see targets through good glass.

6-24x50 Bushnell Elite illuminated if you can find one. Good
glass. I won quite a few steel plate match's with it. Joshb now
has it on one of his rifles. I sold mine off only for the funds to
get a NF comp for the 1000 yard steel match's.

The Arken EP-5 5 x 25 x56 has a very good illuminated reticle CENTER. It has 6 different settings for brightness.

Just the center dot. I can see a black dot if it is a half minute or larger And the background has a contrast. My main problem in my chosen shooting is that most all steel in silhouette is painted black and a black dot is totally lost to me. I Like the Arken and similar as it has a small dot for precision but has the surrounding illuminated lines to make finding and centering the small dot possible.

First, don’t buy the Gen 1 Vortex Viper PST 6-24. Illumination at lowest level is too bright and not useable. I sold mine. Bought a couple of Leupold VX5 3-15 with the Firedot, and like them a lot. Most recent buy, to spend a bit less money, was an Athlon Midas 2.5-15 with illumination, and it works just fine.
