I just use a regular mag base i milled a vee into and mag that to the barrel and indicate the stock. Or you can put the stock or barrel into a vise, put the mag base on the vise and indicate off the stock or barrel whichever isnt in the vise. I dont have to check benchrest stocks anymore so i dont use it much

i made one and use it all the time. Text me for pics. i would possible make one for sale if you like it. If thats even what your asking? Lee

Just curious - when are you using this and what are you checking for?
To check bedding for stress. Torque action screws, zero indicator, slightly loosen one screw see if indicator moves, re-torque and then loosen the other. When I check I will usually see less than .0015 movement. In my case I have the barrel and stock vertical to negate gravity affecting the reading (Butt of stock clamped in a padded vise).

I use a button back indicator on a mount used to check shaft and coupling alignment.
