Independence Day Hog

Took today to do some hunting. I've been so busy. Anyway, got out a cruised some of the beanfields from around 7:45 AM til 9AM. Buddy called me and we went to one of his farms. Full of old dilapidated sheds, rusted equipment and big barns. One look through the glass at our first set made me grin. The foundation of one of the barns had holes under it everywhere. Several other spots within view held promise. The wind started getting up and I whiffed two from that spot. Moved and glassed and then came back about an hour later. One of my misses was back out from under the barn. Looked like a younger one, which may explain his naivety
Range 256 yards.
6 B.R. w/ 105 VLDH
BOOOM...........SWACK!!!!
My buddy said "I jumped, did you get him?" I said "Yeah, didn't you hear that?" He hadn't heard the bullet impact. "Nothing smacks like meat brother." I told him. Sure enough, there he laid.

I only speak truth pirate, not fantasy:D Yeah, my dope up/down was perfect but the 15 -20 mph quartering towards us got me I guess. The shot went right just a fudge. Hunting is full of misses, not many folks talk about them though. I missed two and came back and killed the one, just to clarify. The one that got away presented me with only a head at 276 yards. It was a pup, so small. I held 10 o'clock and let her fly. Clean miss from the back tailgate of a side by side and a bull bag. It happens. He will be there when I get back.

O.K.,,missed 2 killed 1,,,I can live with that,,I have to constantly remind myself that my HOGS are one hell of a lot bigger than yours and I,m only shooting 50 yards MAX,so,I will bow my head
down and appeal for your forgivness for my mistake,,,

Oh, a curious note about bullet performance. I only have a few kills with bergers, all varmint. This one had a concrete block behind him. That bullet completely fragged in the hog (fairly small one, maybe 12 lbs). There were only little fresh pockmarks on the block, as if I had popped it with 357 ratshot. As designed I suppose but interesting none the less.
