Inclusion in Barrel

Gentlemen

I saw something interesting in my Bore scope a few weeks back. I ran across a small Inclusion in the barrel 1.2" forward of the mouth of the neck. Its a Stainless steel barrel has a FAIR amount of fire-cracking from the Free-bore out past the Leade angle and into the Groove area of the rifling. Past the Leade Throat area the Lands them self look really good and most of the cracking is in the groove. I cleaned the rifle up real good and got it ready for a Long range 3X 1000 yard match yesterday.
I was very Cerouse to see how it was going to shoot as that is the first time I had noticed that spot in the Barrel. It may be Possible that it was there before, but not when it was new as I checked every dern inch of that tube before installation. The rifle shot Very well just as it had in the past. It Appears that a piece of stainless had lifted and went down the barrel at some point when it started to look like a dry creek bed that Stainless gives when it starts to erode. I'm ready to set the rifle back and give it some new and longer life, I hope).
I would imagine it would be best to set it back behind the inclusion and avoid that problem spot. 875 rounds and setting it back already. Man I have to get something different that's not so hard on barrels.

Its a 30" 6.5X284 1:8 twist Medium Palma Contour. I wont release the Name as i believe this happens to alot of barrels and if you don't have a bore scope you would never know. It would not be fair to the Barrel maker.

The Gun is a NRA Prone long range rifle with MasterClass stock and a Stiller Predator Long action all in Stainless.

With Irons on the gun my first 20 shot Match was a 199-10X with this chunk of metal missing. The second match was a 197-7X, performance is defiantly not effected or at least not yet. With this last 75 rounds through the barrel the round count is at 876. All with 4831SC. I will set this barrel back 1.5" now. I would like to let it go and see what happens but at $300 a pop for a new tube I better set it back and get more life out of the barrel.
This barrel seems to have most of the fire cracking in the grove and less on the land. Very odd compared to my last two in this caliber.
Just goes to show ya that if someone says they can tell you if the rifle will shoot by glancing down the bore with a scope they are full of you know what.
