Inaugural Long Range Match @ Deadzero July 27-28

Hey, if you're having trouble signing up, shoot me an email at mkubic at Deadzeroshooting.com. I'll get you on the list. Stop at the clubhouse to sign in and drive over to the range.

Great Match and in my opinion, one of the best Ranges in the Nation now. A huge thank you to Matt Kubic for setting it all up and ram rodding the range creation.

This was my first on E-Targets, and I loved them. I may never shoot another match where I have to spend half the day in the pits pulling targets and nearly passing out from the heat. I've skipped several matches this year because I didn't think I could handle the heat all day. By the third relay it becomes as much endurance as it does a shooting skill.

A few problems were that it is harder to pick up a cross fire and that did happen a couple of times, and that since you can't see the spotting disk when looking at your target through the rifle scope, you have to get used to remembering where it was looking at the tablet. I found that having a larger tablet of your own helped a lot for that. Set it out where you can see it with your head down on the rifle. All it all, I liked it much better than pulled targets even if someone else was doing all the pulling. Consistent, 7 second reports of your shots were far better in my opinion than the inconsistent targets being pulled at various speeds. That consistency helped my shooting I think. It creates a rhythm I liked. Some shooters (F-Class) finished in 5 minutes and others used 20 minutes, so each could find their own rhythm not artificially created by inconsistent pulling. I saw no difference in accuracy. We've all been in the pits at matches and seen people look a shot over and over again trying to figure out what to score it. Put the marker in, pull it out, show it to another puller, etc. I think the Shoot Marker System that they used is as accurate as most human pullers are. Very few problems once they got it going.

Its the way of the future for long range shooting. 20 years ago, none of us used cell phones either.

I'll be shooting that range's matches as long as I am able to.

Last match I shot with E targets, we were highly encouraged to watch the trace to the target with a spotting scope, to be able to identify cross fires. And as it turns out, I managed to cross fire- scorer said it was clear as a bell with no question to what I did. Otherwise, you are prone to getting a few "shot didn't register" calls....

It would be nice to see the results reported in the traditional way by each Match including X-Count and overall.

Ha! I thought the same thing. They are experimenting with the Practiscore, but no, they have no idea how to.report scores. We will be doing it in the standard way in the future.

Matt, I tried to find a match program for one of the up coming NRA High Power events but could not find one on the Dead Zero page. I would like to attend one of the events soon. Best wishes, Clyde the elder.

My understanding is that all LR match days are 3x20x1000 until further notice. The targets at other distances are still being planned/installed.

Thanks, I was thinking more of the standard match program that provides info like registration time, match fees, etc. There is a lot to getting a range and high power program up and running and they are doing a great job. Some of the details will get worked out in time. There may be some of the detail in earlier replies to this thread. I will take a look.

I believe what your looking for is on practiscore, that’s where you can sign up as well. Go to practiscore and search Dead Zero and it should bring up all the matches there and details.

It was hard to find on the Practisescore website. Still a pretty poorly designed one to navigate. Does anyone know if this is an NRA Approved match on the 24th and 25th?

Type in “Dead Zero” in the search box and it will pull all of Dead Zero matches right up in order of date.
The match is not a registered match.
