i used 8208 with the 77 gr. SMK. and it shot super. i used it because it meters so good out of the measure, it will hold .1. I'm loading on a progressive loader but i drop the powder from a Harrell's measure mounted separate from the press……. jim

with reloader 15, 69gr 25.0 gr, 77's, 24.1

8208, 77gr, 23.2 gr.

these are standard service rifle loads, loaded to mag length,

I use 25.9gr of 748 with the 77gr Sierra's in my Mossberg MVP. Velocity is 2911 out of the 24" barrel. Problem with most powders is getting enough in the case to allow the seating of the 77gr bullets. I do seat these long in the bolt gun. Good groups at 850 yards. I did get a hit at 1000 yards, wasn't pretty but it was a hit. My standard AR load is 24gr of 8208 with the 69gr Sierra.

Cool. Only thing about ball powder is its temp sensitive. I dont want a powder i have to tweek every time the weather changes

I've been using 8208 for a few years now. 25 gr with Hornady 53 gr Vmax at 2.255. I'm messing with the Sierra 69 gr TMKs with 23-23.3gr at 2.235. It also works well with the Sierra 52 gr Mks with 25 gr.

23.3 behind a Sierra 53, any case and a Wolf primer absolutely hammers out of my Compass Lake service rifle. Somewhere between 22.7 and 23.2 should work for 77s.

cjmac, I realize you are looking for load data for 53 and 69 SMKs but if this helps, I've been using 22.0 gns of XBR in Win nato brass with CCI 400 primers pushing 77 SMKs. These run through a Noveske 20" 1-7 barreled (5.56) AR sniper variant and manage 1/2moa at 100. On a lucky day, they managed a 3 shot group at 600 yards on steel which measured 7/8". perhaps you might want to bump the 69s to 77s. I also use Berger 90 VLDs in same gun with excellent results as well.

As for a bolt gun, I have been using H4895 with 69 SMKs for quite some time shooting the high 190s in FTR 300 yard match. The rifle is a simple Savage 12 BVSS 1-9. With 52 SMKs, they shoot one hole all day at 100 yards also using H4895.
