IMR 8208 and 17 Fireball??

From my experience with a 17 Javelina (very similar to the 17 Fireball) I get my best performance with 4198 or Norma N200. I would think the 8208 would be a tad slow for this one...JMHO

Hodgdon/IMR Reloading Data Center shows best velocity with 8208 in all bullet weights and none are compressed. And the temperature sensitivity is very low if non existent.

actually look at the 20gr load on hodgdon's site again. the 20 v-max load is compressed

max pressure with XBR is 44,700 CUP. now look at the rest of the loads, they're all in the neighborhood of 48-50K CUP.

I got a feeling you can't get enough XBR into the case to make full use of a 20gr v-max. the case is probably better suited for faster powders with that bullet weight.

i picked up a pound from powder valley. I'm anxious to try it out

The 30gr Berger and the XBR 8208 Powder were ment for one another. It produces near ZERO ES/ SD and is still pushing the 30gr Berger in the high 36's and low 37's with a full case.
