imr 8208 . 223 rem

so is imr 8208 better for heavy grain or light grain bullets in a 223 rem ? i have a 1 in 7 twist 24 inch barrel

I'm loading 77 Sierras for a 1-7 Noveske. Haven't tried anything lighter.

8208 in a 12 twist and 52 gr. bullets work better than anything I've found for my .223 XR-100. Don't know about a fast twist and heavy bullets.

52 cheek and 26 gr imr 8208XBR...a match made in heaven. 28 gr, same bullet, in my 223 AI even better!

Can you give me a starting point that you used? I just got my new .223 bolt rifle and I will be shooting mostly 80 grain bullets. In my space gun I was using 23.2 grains with a 77 Sierra.

Use the same load, maybe even a little more for the 80's. You will be seating the 80gr further out reducing pressure compared to the 75/77 grain bullets.
