IMR 8082 XBR in a .223 Bolt Gun

Shynloco

You can lead a horse to water, but ........
Guys,
I've got some IMR 8208 that's just been sitting around so I've decided to try it in my Savage Model 12 VLPDBM that loves 52 & 53 gr bullets in a 1:9 barrel @ 100 - 200 yds. I'm looking for any recommendations from people who've used this powder successfully and what amount they've found works best in a bolt gun. Thx.

Alex

77gr Nosler or SMK and 23.2-23.8gr 8208XBR (Hodgdon max book is 23.2gr, IIRC...).

Will work great in your Savage 1:9; did in mine...

I run it in my heavy 223AI w/53 V's.......

Works real well.........plus I have an 8# jug...that's the best part...

I also have a Model 12 VLPDBM that I use for BR shooting. It has a Hart 12 twist barrel, and works really well
with 25.5g of 8208, and either Berger or custom 52g target bullets. I also, was lucky enough to find an 8# jug. ;)

I use 24.6 grains of 8208 in my Savage 9 twist 10FP under 69 Sierra MK's in Lapua brass and 205 Fed Match primers. This rifle plain shoots and I have never owned a more accurate factory rifle! My son is also using it in his .223AI custom. Works great!

Any one using 8208 with 80 or 90 grain bullets?

Scott

I use it with 80gr A-Max in my 223AI to great effect.

I decided to not even try 8208 with 90gr VLDs, and instead am using Varget.
