IMR 4895 discontinued !!

I guess "no planning on making anymore" is different from "discontinued". Maybe they're just focusing on more popular powders while the market is so dysfunctional.

I'll call Hodgdon tomorrow.

When the Enduron powders were discontinued, Powder Valley made an announcement.

Maybe there is hope since there isn't a big announcement anywhere so far.

H4895 is NOW $ 60.99 a pound on Hodgdon Website. Out of stock.
IMR 4895 $ 47.99 Also out.

H4350 available @ $ 60.99
Hodgdon has taken some significant price hikes on a lot of the powders they sell. IMR 4198 went from in the 260$ range to over $300 recently. They do not make any powder just package and resell, so I guess if they are having trouble getting everything in their lineup the have to jam the stuff they can get. Sad time in the shooting world right now. Heating your home, paying bills and mortgages, feeding the family, paying high gasoline costs are the focus for most. Something has to give.

There has not been a day gone by since I matured enough around the age of 35 to realize how fortunate I was to have grown up when I did, l am now 61. Indeed a sad time in the world of shooting sports for the kids and non well to do.

That’s the plan from our wonderful leaders!

I just called Hodgdon. IMR 4895 is still a current powder being produced. It has not discontinued or put on any kind of production hold.
I contacted the local reloading supply store here in St. Augustine if they had any IMR 4895 in stock and mentioned the "discounted/ no longer being made" and was informed that their supplier was OOS, which I assume is out of stock.
They have one can.
They're nice people that have this store but a bit pricey, always have been, so it isn't a current market situation. I'll wait as I have some and have H 4895 too. I do not shoot enough rifle these days for it to be a major concern, but I would still like a spare can on the shelf.

I couldn't agree more. I had that conversion with my in-laws awhile back. I am 45, they are 72 & 75, and I told them I thought they grew up in a great time period. Yes, my father in-law had a pretty hard time as a kid on the farm, but it was worth it and built character. It didn't take them very long to see my reasoning and to agree with me.

I was born 30 years too late.
