IMR 4350 for 243. win

I was having great luck in the winter with RL-17 and the 243. win but with the warm weather hitting im hitting massive pressure signs and accuracy dropped a little more then wanted. I dont want to be making 2 totally different loads for different' weather so i figured id grab a new Powder to test. I picked up IMR 4350 pushing the 87gr vmax and had my best luck with max pressure. Im going to start a proper ladder test this thursday i think but wondering if anyone has had any luck with this combination. Cant seem to find H-4350 anywhere!!

i used ADI 2209 which is the same as your IMR4350 on the burn rate scale and had great success with it and 87gr vmaxs .. was using 43.5gr with .010 jump
great combo

IMR 4350 is an outstanding choice for the 243. Been loading the 243 since the late 60's and it's my go to powder for this cartridge. It's especially excellent with 80 grain and heavier bullets.

I found IMR 4350 to be the best in the only 243 I ever had. Can't recall the charge, but with both 90 gr nosler btips and 87 gr vmaxs it offered the best accuracy. Using both IMR and H 4350 I found a wider range of charge weight would come close to best accuracy using H, but the IMR OCW was the best by a desirable margin.

I agree with the 4350, but if you can't find it try VV N 160 or 165. Several places had one or the other in stock on-line as of last night anyway. H-414 is also available from several places. Just a few other options for you to consider.

No, imr4350 is fairly temp sensitive. Last summer when the powder drought of 13 hit i was getting down to 6 lbs of h4350. I was feeding a 260, two 6.5 cm, and two 243. I found some imr4350(10 lbs) and worked up substitute loads in a creedmoor and a 243. My 243 load was 107smk &42.5 h4350@3100. The load i settled on was 107smk with 42 or42.5 imr4350@3090, it was just as accurate as previous load. These speeds were at 95*. I chronied them this fall at 50*, the imr load had lost 70 fps and the h4350 had lost 10fps. Luckily i backordered 16 lbs in mar13' and got it by Nov13'. I sold the creedmoor that used imr4350, but still use the imr4350 in that 243. Once it is gone i don't plan on using it again. On a side note, the colder velocity didn't seem to hurt accuracy, still shot in the .3s off a bipod and bag.

Anybody have any experience with the IMR4350 and the 115 DTACs? I see lot's of use with the H4350 but how does the IMR perform?

I put about 1400 rounds down my last .243 with IMR4350 and 115gr DTAC's with great accuracy. With the new barrel I have switched to H4350. I have 200 rounds down the new barrel and accuracy seems promising and I have been able to get my velocity close to 3000fps without pressure signs. Could not do that with IMR4350. If you are shooting 600 to 1000 yards you would be better served using H4350 for the increased velocity and not being temp sensitive. But don't rule out IMR4350 as it has been a great powder for the .243 with 80gr bullets and heavier just lacks a little velocity.

I have had good luck with my 243 using IMR4350 with 70g to 100g bullets. It seems to work great in this caliber. It works best for me in the 75g to 85g range.

IMR-4350 with WLR primers and 70NBT's is what I am shooting currently in my Tikka T3 Lite in 243win. I have them running about 3,385 fps and grouping great anywhere from .005 to a max of maybe .012 off. If I set the zero to 200 yards, the trajectory looks a lot like my 22-250 shooting 55BK's at just over 3,700fps! This has been the best combination yet so far for my particular gun that out of the box just seemed to favor the lighter bullets.
