IMR 4166, 4451, and 7977

Now that these powders have been out for a while, has anyone found them to be more useful than the old standbys. I am thinking about trying them, but I have good loads worked up with the powders I have on hand, which is quite frankly more of a variety then I need. I guess if it's not broken, I shouldn't worry about fixing it, but I am curious to see if I can gain anything by trying them.

For those of you whom are using them as a substitute for powders that you have been unable to get, would you continue to do so if you could get what you originally used.

Just wondering, thanks

I'm shooting 4166 in the 308 and light bullet 22-250, and the 4451 in heavy 22-250 and 6x47. I have been happy with both of them. I think the 4166 has been acceptable substitute for VARGET.

Thanks missed. I have quite a supply of the powders that I use, but was essentially wondering if any of these Enduran powders provided any gain in accuracy or barrel life. As far as the temp sensitivity goes, most of my powders are the Hodgdon Extremes and as far as the copper fouling goes, most of my rifles have custom barrels and copper fouling doesn't come into play.

They're supposed to be temperature insensitive and suppress copper buildup. Otherwise, they will not be easier on barrels or intrinsically more accurate. If you're happy with your known loads, and already have plenty of powder, I sure wouldn't be spending what they're asking for Enduron powder.

I've done a lot of experimenting with 4451. I wasn't finding H4350 at the time. I developed a good load for my hunting 260. Then 8# jugs of H4350 showed up locally. Yes I bought one, but stayed with the 4451 for my hunting load. I will keep the H4350 for target use. It's a proven powder for my 6.5x47L. And better priced! I would not be scared to use the Enduron powders, but the price is a little higher.

You didn't really say what you thought of 4451.
