Important checklist

I like the idea of checklists, being a guy who under pressure often chokes. If I have a handy checklist nearby I can refer to it in situations that require quick mental acrobatics and focus. I think we can all benefit from others, so lets capitalize on the vast knowledge here represented by the astute members of our forum.

So I will start:

Situation: 18 Pound groundhog just stood up only 75 yards away in front of my new Creedmore with Viper scope. I just went belly prone in my too tight 511's and Gargoyl shooting glasses. Put the mildot right on his bean and after calculating wind drift, coriopolis effect and calculating time it was going to take for the ant that just bit my thigh to make it 5 inches higher, I squeezed off the shot. Partner is screaming "TWO MILS LEFT" into my deaf ear. Groundhog is still standing there, now looking at me me with an "I can't believe this" look.
Partner is alternating between screaming advice and questions, starting with "What the...!?"

I need help, fast!

Excuse Checklist:
1) The VLD's are shooting high in this arid hot day.
2) The scope was canted 2 mils left.
3) Should have brought the AR
4) Groundhog is not where he appears, due to mirage.

Ok guys, you take it from here.....;)

5) wasn't wearing 511 undies, under amour rides up and throws my shots left.
6) Partner whispered he was secretly in love with me and I pulled my shot.
7) I can't believe a Simmons scope fogs up. Damn, there is $100 down the tube.
8) The Hog anticipated the shot

Which bean did you aim at? Right or left? This sounds like torture more than hunting. Try aiming higher. Also if your like me when I go prone I'm sort of like a turtle on his back bit on the opposite side. You might try wearing bigger shoes to have a tripod effect. And if you used a Creedmoor it might not have been enough gun for an 18 pounder. If he had beans of steel it may have bounced off.

LMFAO!! This just made my day.

Fredo, I can't hear you! You are still shoutin in my deaf ear!;):p

But you are correct...I am old school and my "frame" is more "Dickies and suspenders" than 511. I think you may be on to something. Oakley's huh? Gotta write that down.
#6 Gargoyls distorted the parallax due to curved framature, must try Oakleys. (I like it)

You might try wearing bigger shoes to have a tripod effect. Quote

#7 Shoes too small, causing a weeble wobble effect

#9. Dohhh! Forgot to change my parallax from yesterday when I was shooting steel at 1000 and ringing it ALL DAY LONG !!!
#10. Shoulda just used my new Glock Creedmore 40 for such a close shot.

75 yard ? Still stretching the limits !
You under estimated coriopolis effect,
Pm me I'll explain it again !!
I think fredo was saying give the gun bearer that gun before you shoot your self in the foot ( listen to him !!)
If your intention is to continue to shoot at these distances
Get fredo to do some loading for you :D it can only help!
Or I have some loading techniques that are sure to open your eyes
From a Safty point of view, get fredo to shout into your good ear ,
Check list

Gun bearer √
Glasses √
Inertube √(truck or small tractor ;) )
Measure feet, may need bricks,
Test pards calling abilities ( you know what I mean )

You know your only frustrating your self at these distances :(
Get pointers of fredo I hear he has hits at 60yrd

Better luck next time !!!

You were shooting a 6.5 Creedmore; no self respecting ground hog is going to face death to such a yuppie firearm. Now if it was a 6-47, 6mmAI, 6.5-284, he'd be in ghopher heaven.
