Importance of truing threads?

Jerry, Not sure what they will shoot at 100. I never shoot at 100. I zero at 300 and mainly shoot at 300 and 500 for load testing.
Johnfred, I’ve learned a lot on here, but far from everything I know. I had a friend I watched for years.

You didn't ask us much about anything but threading...maybe you had the rest of it down from watching your friend. --Jerry

Jerry, definitely didn’t have anything down :)
I watched him, watched YouTube’s, read here, practicalmachinist and benchrestcentral.

Some rounds shoot great with less than stellar gunbuilding, inherent accuracy is a real thing and so is knowing how to create exceptional hand loads. Not real hard to build a quarter minute and better gun IMHO. It's a quite a bit harder to find a consistent quarter minute and better shooter and reloader.

If we have to cut this magic .0003" taper to threads to get all the threads to contact, then how do we know it's .0003" and not something else? What happens if we have a different diameter and/or thread pitch. How do we know what taper to cut for a 1.063X 16 tpi tennon vs a 1.063X 20 tpi or if the diameter is larger or smaller? Seams to me we should just grab a pipe tap and screw it in the action face, take a prized barrel down to the local hardware store and die cut some pipe threads on it. Possibly custom shirts so we can distinguish master gunplumbers from those who are not.
