Immike has left the range

It is with great regret that I inform the forum @Immike has left the range. Mike Jakubczak was a hell of a shooter and mentor. He competed for years in black powder, and attended the National Shoot in Friendship, Indiana. He had a shop with walls covered in plaques, trophies, and medals from years of successful competition shooting in various disciplines including Benchrest and F-Class.

He was a trophy deer hunter and ironically favored archery as the method. He loved fishing at Mark Twain Lake, and typically would fill his boat with catfish and crappie.

I first ran into him in 2010 at one of the Thursday F-Class matches held at the St. Louis Benchrest Club. He became my mentor and led me down the deep rabbit hole of reloading and shooting. For several years, we shot every F-Class match we could in the state and traveled to shoot Regionals and Nationals when time permitted. Mike helped me run the first Missouri F-Class State Championship and we've had one every year since. Mike was one of the folks responsible for F-Class becoming what it has become.

Here is a picture from 2010 of Mike taking a dollar for kicking my butt in F-Class.

Next time I see him, I'll be looking to get that dollar back......

RIP @Immike

Mike really helped me out a lot and taught me a ton about shooting F-Class. We used to have a lot of fun on the forums here promoting matches. He welcomed many to our sport and was open with his teachings. He’ll be missed by many.

I remember vividly the first time I met Mike. Sitting under a pop-up shade at Bucksnort and laughing my ass off at his dry humor. He will be sorely missed. RIP my friend.

Didn't have the honor of knowing the gentleman but by all accounts he was an asset to the shooting sports.
Condolences to his friends and family. May he rest in eternal peace.
