I'm looking for a factory 30 cal. 118 to 120 grain match bullet for my 30BR

Does anyone know of a factory 30 cal. 118 to 120 grain match bullet that I can shoot in my 30 BR. I'm using 120 grain 10X match HPFB bullet 30 cal. built on a .925 jacket, the 10X are very accurate, but several months ago when I talked to the guys at 10X, they said I should order one season ahead, let them know what I will need for the next season. I don't what to order so far in advance. I have aprox. 1000 of the 10X, but I want to find a factory bullet if possible, that will be as accurate as the 10X. Someone said that Barnes make one, but I'd like to here from someone that has had real good accuracy with a factory 118 to 120 grain match 30 cal. bullet. Any input would be helpfull. Steve

AFAIK for factory bullets that may work well in a 30br here are your options:

Berger 110/115/125 gr
Speer 125 gr

Pricewise, the Bergers will be close to the price of a custom bullet.

What if you try Sierra HP 110 grs and Hornady V-MAX 110 grs? They are priced right. Did anyone got decent results with them in .30 BR?
Klemen

You can't beat the price of the Speer 125 TNT. Buy the 500 pack for less the $100 on sale at Natchez. You need to sort by bearing length for best performance. I could get the ocassion high 2 and typical low 3 with mine. The Berger 125s were similar and I found I need to sort them as well for best performance. Never tired the new 115 Begers. However, neither could touch the performance of Ronnie Cheeks 118-7s or 118-10s or Randy's 118 BIBs. My groups dropped to fairly consistant low 2s with these in my Savage 30BR. The bullets are capable of more..... myself and my rig are not. Managed a couple of 249s last year, but a clean 250 escaped me. If you want cheap and ok, then go with the TNTs. If you want the best your gun can shoot you have to try the custom guys. Just my 2 cents, Tim

I'll check out the BIBs. Does anyone now if they carry a 120 grain, and do you have to order way ahead of time ? I don't want to give up accuracy, that's why I was asking if anyone had good luck with the factory bullets before I ordered any. thanks, Steve

I guess I was only referencing .925 Jacket as you stated, would you also like suggestions on 1.00" jackets?

Building a 120gr in a .925 jacket, while doable, wouldn't be suggested.

The 125 TNT Speer that was suggested is built on a 1" jacket as is the Berger 125gr, BIB 118-7, 118-10.

What it your application?? What is your Free bore??

If you have 1000 on the shelf, and you know that combo works in your rig, I don't understand why you don't place the order for what you KNOW works cause by the time your out, you'll probably be receiving your new order, rather than trying to develop DATA for bullets with different Base/ogive measurements, different pressure ring measurements, different shank dia,
which COULD mean different neck tension, etc, etc. (Last statement meant for Competition shooter)

If you are just punching paper at your home range for fun then by all means shoot up whatever you can buy on YOUR terms.

If you are just punching papaer

redrock, right now it's a money issue. I'm just checking out my opions. For now I'm just competeing against myself, trying for the perfect one whole five shot group, I do hate to mess with what I have, because I'm getting some pretty good groups. Some time in the future, I'd like to shoot some local competitions. I have zero freebore, the bullet is hard into the lands. This is the first custom rifle I've owned, so I don't know much about other custom bullets that are available. I might have to wait until my money issue is resolved, and order the 10X that I've been using. The 1000 bullets I have left will last me awhile. Steve

Ranny Robinett (BIB) also makes 112, 118, and 125s (higher weights) in both 7- and 10-ogive. Pretty sure you have to order a 1000, but Randy will sometimes have overruns on a lot and have 100-250 bullets he can sell you. Since a pending world record was just set with a 30BR using Randy's bullets (see below), you can bet the wait time grew a bunch. Lots of good 30 cal bullets out there but they are in high demand. Waits of 1 year and more have been the norm for large orders since I started with a 30BR a couple of years back. Luck, Tim

So I can understand what your asking,
You are looking for someone to sell you a 100count of bullets for $34.00 (or so) so you don't have to pay the $334.00 ?
