I'm in trouble now! (Also new to the community)

Mississippi boy here also. Star MS. South of Jackson.
Transplant to NC.

Yeah, first couple are free then ya gotta start paying !

JMayo, I was gonna try to talk some sense into you but I think you're too far gone. Get that Christmas
present NOW, before anything else. Might be the best advise you get on this thread before you start
on your rabbit hole adventure. Other good advice that was posted earlier, buy once, cry once, you won't regretted it later. Welcome to the forum. MS?? it was Bilouxi for me, March thru November 1974.

600 yard bench rest is a great place to start. Choose a popular round, get one rifle and 2 barrels and focus on your reloading. Get your SD down to 5 and then go to 1000 yards. Wind reading.

My first and almost any subsequent experience in competition shooting was that everyone was friendly and helpful. Good luck !!

Stupid question, but what is SD?
Standard deviation. That and ES (extreme spread) are the Holy Grail of reloading. Muzzle velocity variations cause vertical spread. This is controlled in the reloading process.

Also Sectional Density - It's in every loading manual at the description for each and every bullet. This is why acronyms without context are weak language. In this case there is context. Like "AI" Ackley Improved or AICS magazines etc. . . ..

OK but sectional density would make no sense in the context of my sentence above.

Agree !! That's why I said " In this case there is context". I was not meaning to be critical of your post, just pointing out that acronyms are only that. An abbreviation. Also simply plain "S" and the Greek letter Sigma

So I work in the nuclear industry where we are bad about using acronyms for everything. The only time I remember to watch myself is when I'm speaking to a group of obvious laypeople.
