I'm in trouble now! (Also new to the community)

Hello from Mississippi! I'm new to long range (and this forum), but not to shooting. I went to a 600 yard benchrest match, for the first time, today, it was held at my local shooting club. I was having issues with the scope on my rifle (later realizing the screws on the rings has loosened a little) so after the match a couple of guys offered to let me try their rifles, and now I'm hooked so now all I can say is hello rabbit hole!

Welcome to LR BR! In a short amount of time you'll come to realize that your "super accurate" hunting rifles really aren't super accurate. If you are like me you will stop obsessing over that last .2 MOA of
accuracy with a hunting rifle, because all your time will be spent obsessing over that last repeatable .1 MOA for you LR BR guns........

I'm sure I will. I was really impressed that I shot a 1/2 moa group the first time I shot (using someone else's setup)

It's a scam. Those guys hook you in by letting you experience fine equipment and quality loads. Then you start to wonder if they are getting some kind of kickbacks or something from the shooting industry. Then when you are in too deep, you realize they just brought you in so you can be in their support group. No guy can justify to their wife that spending all of that money is necessary if a bunch of other guys are not doing it too.

Welcome!
Ya the next thing I knew I was on a street corner begging for ammo!

Finding a nice used lathe may seem a little daunting but they're around. There was a great deal on here a month or so ago. Oh,and Bridgeport's ARE small mills.

If you're gonna dig a hole, you need the right tools. Good luck with your project.

Oh yeah, get your own P.O. bx.
