I'M COMPLETELY UNABLE TO GO SHOOTING!

I live in North Indiana and every range is closed for the last two weeks and will be until further notice!
I have 4 new barrels i need to do load development for.
I have loaded for every rifle I own and ready to go.

I've spent the last two weekends and every day after work cleaning my house, truck and all of my side projects are done. So I'm kind of reaching the end of my sanity.
I quit drinking and started shooting, reloading and hunting as a distractive hobby. So now I'm kind of stuck.

However, I still have my job. I am not sick/ infected nor injured. So I have a lot to be thankful for.
I'm normally a recluse, I just guess this quarantine thing is got me down because the only thing I love to do is on hold.

Kind of silly but..
Sorry for the rant.

Man that sucks , I thought gun stores and ranges were to stay open... Luckily my local private range is still open but it's normally dead even on the few hours a week it's open to the public....

You are definitely not alone in this, I and a whole lot of others feel the same way you do, but hopefully it will end soon and things will open up again. Not much else to say but hang in there.

When I read post like 46and2 posted above I'm even more thankful to have my backyard path into the swamp even if it is only 100 yds. Hoping things will soon get back to normal for everybody but I know it's tough waiting.

That puts you just outside of Chicago in a large metropolitan blob around Northwestern Indiana. Not conducive to target shooting at all. I used to hang out around Michigan City when I was a young man...

Is there any arable land, farm land, fenced private land south of you where you might make friends with a farmer? It might be worth a weekend drive surveilling the potentials. Farmers with groundhog problems might entertain and exchange of privileges for some damage control of the ground hog population. I've enjoyed some wonderful weekends in that area but it was quite a few years ago, unfortunately.

I feel your pain. We have been locked up for 2 weeks, only allowed to go the the shops to buy food or get arrested and last night we were informed that we are being rewarded with another 2 week stay at home holiday so 3 weeks to go. I cant sit still and need to be outdoors and/or around people. Our lords even decided that we are not allowed to buy any alcohol or tabaco products during these 5 weeks. At least they know whats good for us and we dont even have to think for ourselves but I might end up un a special place with padded walls before these 5 weeks are over. Im at the point where im gonne start smoking vv N550

I'm from TN. And still have 150 acres but I cant just drive 8.5 hours every weekend just to shoot. I don't think it's a good idea to travel now anyway.

If I had 150 acres I would have packed up and gone there by now. Pick up a small camper or a larger tent, some camping gear, food, water and get your behind gone. Perfect solitude, no contact + no virous.
Bring the basics beans, potatoes, some canned veggies and plenty of ammo for meat hunting. Don't forget you fishing gear.
Stop complaining you have what most of us can only dream about, so do something about it.

I've mulled it over for a month. I'm a pipe fitter and I'm one of the few of us in the trades right now that has a steady job. My local has 7000 members all but a fraction is layed off.
The second I get a lay off check I'm gone!

You know what, I forgot about my little Gammo. Maybe start hunting sparrows and starlings. Thanks.

The past two weeks I've sorted headstamps on 223 cases. ABOUT 150 POUNDS WORTH , AND I RARELY EVER SHOOT 223,LOL.
The air rifle might take the edge off! Try shooting groups with it!

I'm working at Stepan, they make surfactants that go into every cleaning, disinfecting detergent so they need alloy welders, they simply cannot run the facility without constant maintenance. They reduced the workforce in half a month ago to keep the man count down but still need the same amount of work done.

One of the clubs I belong to has closed all access to the ranges. It's my preferred club since it has a 200 yard rifle range and I can shoot off my shooting sticks.

The other club I belong to has all the ranges open but only a 100 yard range and I can't shoot off my shooting sticks because you have to shoot through an opening in a wall from the bench. It's set up that way with over head bunkers down range to prevent putting a round in someone's back yard or worse. Any way, I made a twelve inch mini shooting stick so I can shoot off a bench to simulate shooting off a full length shooting stick. Not ideal but it keeps me sharp.

I believe I'm at greater risk going to the grocery store than the range.

Just stay safe and healthy, this can't last indefinitely - the country has to get moving again - we may have to live with some risk. I feel bad for those who lost their jobs over this virus.

Im a trade worker also and we're busy as heck. No idea why, but im not going to argue with it. 6-12s gets old fast though, but ill dry my tears with 100s.
