I was a LEO Instructor for twenty years and just retired within the last few month. Good for you on your DT training. But remember a two day class is a very basic class and like firearms and defense tactics firearms are perishable skills and you have practice and train on a regular basis stay proficient in your skills. I would always tell the students know your limitations on going hands on and have a backup plan ie pepper spray or a Taser maintain distance just to name a few. A LEO is held to a higher standard of Use of Force 'Gram Factors" google them there are three case. The most important thing is CYA (Can you Articulate ) your actions if Law Enforcement gets involved.

I have a friend who is a retired wildlife officer and is now in charge of security at his church. He trains the church members in basic self defense and many of the members carry. I'm always asking him his opinion on what would Jesus do? Would he carry a Glock or a Sig? Maybe a knife? I mean the last thing anyone in his church would want to do is get killed and go to heaven. I drive him nuts.

One more from the past, while doing Golden Gloves boxing as a young man I was able to train with a very grumpy old man who made all his student's train for 12rds instead of 10rds. He had more winning students than any other trainer at that time.

As an old man it is said that you have between 3 and 5 seconds to win your fight. Don't train for five minutes a day and call it good, or you will be on the ground looking up .
