Illuminated reticle service life?

I have had one on a Vortex for about 8 years so far. Had to replace battery once, still like new

Obviously, longevity is a function of many factors. That said, I have an EOTECH holographic sight that is over 10 years old and a Vortex that is over 5 years old, both illuminated reticles are still fully functional. Very useful if you shoot in low light condition...

Should last as log as you have the scope. Whether you need it or not is up to you. I use it when shooting into darker areas or on shot up targets. I wouldn't spend over a grand on a scope that didn't have it.
