Illuminated Reticle for hunting

On my shelf I have a Bushnell scope with a illuminated reticle. It's probably 30 years old. I got it in the anticipation that it might be nice to have a red dot during low light conditions...As it turns out, the very first time I hunted with it I shot a deer @ about 50 yards just in the first moments of legal shooting time. I was, and am sold on the idea of an illuminated reticle. Btw, the IR also works great when aiming into a background where the black reticle blends in.

I'm looking at the newer IR. Specifically from Leupold and Niteforce. The Leupold Firedot Tri-MOA, and the Fire Dot Duplex. I'm looking for folks opinions who have actually, or do actually use these reticles.
This is going on to a 6.5 PRC that is set up as a lite weight LR hunting rifle.

Illuminated recticles work well in woods, dawn and dusk. Not needed in "normal" daylight/ open country use...It won't hurt but not needed. Most of my hunting rifles have an ill. recticle. The nice thing is you can turn them on or off when you want to.

I like a simple dot. I have a nightforce that. lights the cross hairs - the entire moa reticle - too busy. Check out the Ziess 3 x 12 x 56 illuminated. Awesome.

I use the fire dot duplex for my coyote hunting rifles. I really like it and most times i leave it on all day. I find that it always makes getting on target quicker and easier no matter lighting condition and it’s really handy for fast shots on moving targets. I do adjust the brightness level throughout the day as needed. For me a lighted Xmas tree reticle is way to busy for quick shots that happen sometimes while hunting coyotes but just the dot works great.

I have three illuminated scopes for hunting-

VX6 Firedot
Meotpa Optika6
Zeiss Conquest

I prefer the Firedot. The dot is small and will dim to the point so as to not be distracting in the earliest/latest light.
