Illinois single shot deer caliber ??

I sent him the link to the calibers allowed and he wanted the 450 Bushmaster but he also wants a blued/walnut Number 1 and I can’t find that in anything but the stainless laminated so now I’m looking for a 45-70

I'd get a Ruger American in 350 Legend and one of those "0" shot magazines (what an oxymoron). That way if/when you move, you will have a working magazine rifle.

Before the nonsense about "factory" loadings was published, I was talking with a gunsmith friend of mine that lives up there.

I had a great idea until the factory load stuff ruined it.

30-BR, 30-BR 1.4", 30 Dasher 1.4"

You could literally load the short neck versions and treat them like 38 Spl vs 357 Mag.

I'm so glad I don't live in a commie state.

Yeah me too. We all live in Tn but sometimes venture north to hunt

Can you still hunt varmint and predators with an AR?

I left that corrupt commie craphole 9 years ago, so I have no idea.
Yes, no caliber or rifle type restriction pertaining to coyotes, except over public hunting grounds, those areas have their own restrictions. We still have a 24 hour season that runs from mid Nov to mid March, no restrictions on sights so i2 and thermals are gtg.
The law was wrote to basically say, "300 Blackout" for bottle neck, and straight wall in anything else in a single shot rifle, or rifle converted to a capacity to hold only 1 round in the gun.
This..pretty much

Many have been using .300 blk in ar pistol configuration for some time with a ss block. I personally don't hunt deer but have several friends that do.

When I retire I'm gtfo and IL can kiss my ass

30 Bellm. At one time there was factory ammo. Its basically a 30dasher trimmed to 1.4". Bellm used 444 brass to make his since he was a contender guy and wanted a rim.

They'll hammer little groups and deer. Look at the 210 and 190 LRAB if you want to extend the range that bullets will open.

and …. With an assault weapons ban looming in Illinois … the cartridge length limit for bottle neck cartridges be just under the 7.62x39 allows them to say it has no sporting use. ‍ In that AWB legislation there is an exemption for rifles approved for sporting use by DNR.
Reverse engineered law based on managed reverse engineered law precedent.

Oh my, late to the full party I guess I am. I just read the link to the rules. What a pile of poop that list is. Heck, why don't they just tell you to use a rubber club? That way you can be sporting, and play catch and release?

People writing this stuff are so far removed from reality and guns that they actually think this crap makes sense. Single shot only? What is next? cap and ball?

I know one thing......don't screw with Illinois game wardens. They can give Hunter Biden a ticket and it will stick........got a friend of mine that found out the hard way about that.

Down south, it's not nearly as bad as up north.

Get a cheap Savage Axis with the bolt configuration you need, pull the barrel and convert it to single shot in one of the Illinois legal cartridges.........Then you're in business for the Illinois gun season on the cheap. Building a few barrels for this right now. 450 BM, 350 Legend and 300 BO........so far. They'll be up for sale here shortly.
