Illinois CHL instructor in Texas?

Title says it all--apparently Texas CHL is good in Illinois/Chicago IF your Texas instructor was certificated thru Illinois--obviously none of mine have over the years--I have a year until my next business trip up that way--wanted to give it a try--anybody know of one in Texas or a data base to refer me to?

I remember reading a post about having a concealed carry permit valid nationwide. As I recall, the individual contacts a very small town in America and sign on to become a volunteer deputy, but only visiting the town once a year to report for duty, and even then not actually having to work. This allows you to carry in all states, all the time as an active duty law enforcement officer.

Interesting how there are always carve outs in laws for certain groups.

I see a lot of potential trouble with that. No LEO training and certification or proof of LEO firearms training. If you get in a shoot and pull the LEO card with nothing to back it up, don't look good to me. You'd be better off just being a CHL that's recognized outside your home state.

FYI, CBP were authorized off duty carry with their issued weapons only. If you were in an off duty shoot with that weapon no problem weapons wise. If you carried your own unissued weapon (even with a CHL) then.....of course this was a separate issue from whether it was a good shoot or not.

As I understand it now, the policy has been changed so that you can carry issued or unissued weapons and be covered under the firearms policy but it's just something I heard.

Anyhoo LEOSA is good for all 50 states but you were a certified LEO not some guy that showed up once a year to report for duty.
