If you were building a .308.......

Seems like Defiant would have the magazine problem figured out by now. Lots of people want to build their own loads that end up longer than 2.800 over all length.

I'm doing the same thing now with my Tikka where the OAL is 2.9..
My answer is to change to a long action bolt stop and magazine, problem solved!

Shoot Small y'all

Most things covered ?
Chamber ??? I just finished a FT/R .308
I went with a Full Bore Reamer ? Not good to shoot 185 Berger’s .. think about the Bullets you want to shoot ? Get the right Reamer .
I went back and used a throatier to get the job done .

I would get a medium weight 32" barrel with a 1:12 twist. Have the barrel reinforce 3 inches long so you can set it back 2" after it's normal 3000 round life. Then get another 2000 rounds.

It'll shoot 155 through 190, possibly 200, grain bullets extremely accurate through 1000 yards in cooler weather up to super hot. I've shot 190's from 24" 1:12 twist 308 barrels at 1000 yards well under MOA at 1000. Don't spin bullets any faster than what's needed. 190's at 155,000 rpm from 308's do well. Velocity fps times 720 divided by twist. Some shooting 7.62 M80 147 grain bullets got best accuracy with 1:14" twists.
