For hunting, I would go long action, on the 25 caliber:
25-260 AI
25/06 AI
25 Sherman

For target shooting, the 25x47 is going to be tough to beat, unless you opt for the 25 XC, which are closely related.

If Lapua brass were available, then the 25/284 on a long action would be a top choice, but Lapua 284 brass is just about impossible to find.

Whatever you do, don't back yourself into a corner with a maxed-out mag length cartridge over all length on a new barrel.

I've done several 25 Creeds and it's really nice round. I'm using it as a hunting cartridge for now using Nosler 100 bt's and have shot 115 Bergers to good effect too.

I expect the 25x47 or the GT would meet with great approval !

Tru the 115gr NBT.
For some reason they seem to perform better than the 100gr.

I've used the 100gr in both my 250 Savage and 257 Roberts.
The 115gr in both bring deer down faster.

Don't use the 100gr NBT on coyotes! Makes one heck of a mess!

Yes it will you can also just expand the 22-250 brass.

I have one w/o a name - well, the barrel is stamped 25 CBB, so I guess it is the 25 Compact Buck Buster.
257 AI reamer into the chamber .201"" short. 257 AI dies shortened .201". One pass of 243 brass thru the die and you're set - no fire forming and no trimming. Mine has a tight neck, but a neck reamer will fix that.

CowboyB, What is approx OAL of your loaded cartridges. I never thought of this idea, but I like it.

I had two,never again! The mag box is too short unless you go with a Wyatt's mag box on a 700.

It’s perfection in a Win 70 with a WSM mag box and shortened bolt stop, or the WSM bolt stop. Gives you 3.050” internal OAL in the mag box. I built one and it’s a great hunting rifle for medium game.
