IDPA, IPSC AND PPC???

If you can find an IPSC/USPSA match you can find a class that will fit about anything, granted possibly at a huge disadvantage but you’re there for fun.

IDPA has a bunch of rules regarding size, and attachments. Look before you go.

IDPA = I don’t practice anymore
IPSC = I practice shooting constantly

I do agree the crowds has changed and the new shooters has a different mind set. I don't even shoot our local club USPSA matches anymore. I can't stand the arrogance that I see now days. I hope and don't think we were ever that way. Even the top shooters, like Todd, Robbie, Jerry and Dougie were approachable. Have hung out with them at matches many times.

I do miss the old days, but I don't miss the matches, traveling, motels, etc. I do miss the shooters. Paul and I travelled many miles together and had a ball doing it. Ask Paul about Panama sometime. My big Three Gun was Kyle Lamb's great International Tactical Match back in the day. Being squadded with the late Mike Voigt, Benny Cooley, Jimmy Clark Jr, Frank Garcia, and John Paul of JP. Man those guys could shoot, but we all had a great time, joking and pranking each other.

Sorry, got rambling. The OP can shoot any and all the matches and have a great time. One pistol, with at least 4 mags, holster, belt and mag pouches, eyes and ears and shoot all of the disciplines. If you enjoy it like we all did back in the day, be forewarned. You will be spending money as you progress in your skill levels. Best advise, pick a pistol you like and try and ware it out with all of the ammo you can shoot.

shoot4Fun, if we could have the millions of rounds back, multiple funds spent on the newest, greatest gadgets, entry fee's and travel we could pay for a new home, maybe two. But I would not trade it all for the great friends and memories from the past.

Great times in the shooting sports for sure.
I shot Kyle's match. It was quite an experience! I still am proud to know Kyle and that he knows me. He's as solid as they come!
Robbie was always the clown! Such fun to be around! Todd Jarrett was (I hope still) one of the nicest people in the USPSA game. So professional yet always wanting to help anyone, especially the RO's.
I asked Todd once why his guns always stood out as maybe the worst wish-mash of parts of anyone else at a match. He smiled and said he was constantly changing parts, filing, welding and "perfecting" the feel and balance so pretty guns were of no use.
J. Barnhardt was "approachable" only after the smoke cleared. I remember 2005 Limited Nationals and how loose Robbie was and just how focused Jerry was. They were total opposites!
I shot all the 3-G Nationals held at Clark's range in Princeton. Honestly, the down-home atmosphere and the sincere love they had for the sport shined like a super nova in Jim, Jr. and Jerry M.
While I don't want to go back I will always cherish the memories and (even more so) the friendships of USPSA.

One of these days. I need to get into the crawl space and dig out
some of the wood. We did'nt utilize the Master class rating, just "A.
Had a chance to see Doug Koenig shoot in his very beginning years.
They came up to put club a few times, and everyone knew he was
destined to be someone, if he kept at it. Turned into a machine......

Kyle's match was awesome, but the humidity was brutal. I remember some of the Border Patrol guys from AZ had a very tough time. No one better than Kyle.
