Identify Finish On Barrel

Hart barrel with some kind of finish on blank. Inside and out. Comes off with sandpaper. I'd call it a copper brown color. Anyone know about this? Pic isn't very good, will get another tomorrow.

I'd send Hart a picture, then call and ask them if they know what it might be. WD

Just looks kinda dirty to me. Maybe a little surface rust? How old is is it? Better pics?

Nothing works, acetone ect.

I emailed Hart yesterday Before posting here with a pic. Just wanted to get it done so I didn't have to do it today. Very suprised when I received an answer. Getting numbers off the blank shortly. More pics also.

Could be. If it was some kind of liquid treatment you'd think they'd plug the bore to keep it clean.

I've got a Broughton with the same look. I just assumed it was the result of heat treatment

Probably by the looks. Never heard of heat treatment on a bbl. Tried cyro before though.

That is from a low temp stress relieve. Prob 600ish degrees.
