ICFRA rules question

Changing Rifles?

Under rule 8.1

During the course of a Team or Individual Match, a competitor may not change his rifle unless it (or its sight) becomes unsafe or unserviceable

Can one change rifles between matches or does that impact your agg?

In NRA F class shooting you can and it does not eliminate you from the agg.

Wade,
I think the host country or an ICFRA official will have to give a final answer on this.

A reasonable case could be made that the agg is a match and therefore any change during an agg would result in a DQ for that agg. Likewise a case could be made that since each yardline is a match during Individuals (see FC9.7), rule F8.1 applies to a string of fire and changes between strings may be legal.

The problem with the latter is that the rule would be interpreted differently for Team Matches vs for Individual Matches. My guess is that the former is more correct, but I am not going to bet on it.

At ICFRA level, the terms Match used in F8.1 was intend to represent a string of fire. So if you build a Match that include two different distance, which in my head, should be a Aggregate of 2 different Match, you may use a different rifle (that conform to all other rules) for each distance/string. The Major change we did last year was to allow you to change it for a different caliber/cartridge. Prior to this, if you had technical issue while shooting a string with your .284 Shehane by example, you could not use your 6.5mm-284 rifle to replace. But Now you can!

Be careful, you cannot declare your rifle unserviceble if your group deteriorate, something has to be broken and RO has to verify!

Thanks.

I've been though the disabled rifle thing before. I once used 3 rifles to finish a 20 shot string in a team match, mine (primer in the lugs), a team mates (bad firing pin), and I took the 20th shot with my scorers rifle(from another team). Needless to say my score wasn't stellar.

I shoot FTR and I was pondering the idea of using a 223 at the shorter yardages in the individual matches at the East Coast FBs next month.
