I Went To A Gunshow, First one In Years.

Where I live now doesn't allow me the opportunity to go to many gun shows anymore but I always like going when I can. The deal on the Rock Chucker was a good one. Love those things.

I thought Pasadena was in California?
I’m from Pasadena, TX. My first two years in college, my roommate was from Pasadena, CA. Basically 1500 mi apart on I-10.

I quit going to gun shows mainly because I have some friends that aren’t retired yet and we stay pretty busy shooting clays on Saturday, and there are lots of matches to shoot on Sunday. Plus like others said, too pricey and lots of the same old stuff.

Never, ever buy and shoot ammo like that,
There was a gun and knife show today at the Hernando Sportsman's Club in Florida. A couple guys bought some 6.5CM reloads from someone at the show. Tried them in their new Ruger rifles and nearly blew them up. 3 rounds in one rifle, one in the other. Blew all 4 primers and the primer pockets were greatly expanded. Powder was listed as FSP-747 @ 38 grains. Heavily etched bolt faces and an ejector stuck by a sliver of brass. I've got a pic on my phone and will see if I can upload it. Primers weren't even seated right.
bought unknown from someone.

There used to be a guy at the local gun shows that had 4 different sections of gun parts. 1903, Garand, M1A1, and 30 carbine. If he didn't have a part, he would give you a number to call when he did have it. But he most likely had it all, or it never broke or wore so he didn't carry one. He is gone. Now we have a guy that has three 98 Mausers that the metal is 100%, the furniture looks like it was drug home behind a tank. I asked him if they were arsenal refinished and he got mad at me for asking. Swore that that is the way they finished the war, and were turned in that way. The good guys are dead and gone and now we have get rich quick guys with $150 per thousand primers.
In DFW there were excellent gun shows, many years ago. Time goes fast. It was 20 plus years ago. Nice rifles, handguns, you name it. Interesting, I don't know where the old high quality 'wood' guns have gone. I was at Cabelas recently. The guys said their used gun racks have all but evaporated. 85% junk now at gun shows.

Here in N E Indiana the shows are decent. Not much beef jerkynor crap like that. 10/22's , M1's & 03/03A3 are way over priced......if you collect small bore target rifles , they pop up at great deals....I picked a savage/ Anschutz with irons& hand stop-sling swivel for $450 , the guy behind the table said to me " it's a funny rifle, with a funny name & no scope.....does it shoot as well as a 10/22?"

National gun day Feb 24 and 25. Louisville expo center. 1200 tables. See ya'll there. Lord willing.

If you saw the movie Urban Cowboy, you saw Pasadena Tx
My wife and I went to Gilley‘s once back in the mid 1970’s. It was before the movie came out.

The movie Urban Cowboy pretty much nailed it. As strange as it might seem, the place was pretty civil, considering it was one huge Beer Joint. they didn’t tolerate rude behavior.

The reason we went that one time was Mickey Gilley was performing. He really did some good sets.

Due to the huge Petro Chemical presence in Pasadena, The old saying about Pasadena is…..”the grass is greener in Pasadena, and so is the air”.

The bad thing with shows around here is the stagnant inventory. It seems like over the years, it's the same people with the same overpriced guns. Granted, I'm sure that's not actually the case; I need to "branch out" and head to shows away from home.

Going through the tunnel back then was "special" It was hard to hold your breath all the way through, so you wouldn't smell the paper mill.
