I want to make your input to make the ideal loading tray!

So, I've posted our 25 round loading trays, but obviously some shooters are going to want a larger tray. The design is an "open-sided", modular format with interchangeable tops:

My main question, is 50 or 55 rounder? I see benefits for both:

55 rounders allow an empty row in between 50 rounds for sorting purposes...this was suggested by a member here.

50 rounders could allow multiple case head sizes on one 100 round "base plate", 100 rounders will be coming eventually.

Bring on the input! These will be starting machining soon.

A true thanks for your input,
Tyler

I'm all for a 55-60, just makes it so much easier to keep track of where your at with a batch if 50 in the reloading cycle. I'll be interested to see the opinions on this one.

By the way your 25 round trays are a pleasure, I love the design. Heavy enough they don't move on the bench, open design that doesn't collect debris, well machined and stackable. Great product.

25 or 30 round, depending on the caliber size. I like the idea of having an extra/empty line between loaded and ready to load cases. Actually, custom made for small cases like a 20 TCM Wildcat. Not too deep so there's enough case sticking out of the rack so you can get your fingers on it. Drop a short stubby case in a standard tray and you'll have to turn the rack upside down to get it out. Remember, big things come in small packages.;):D

what would the cost be on a 60 round tray. also extra caliber tops.

A one-off, quite expensive. Whatever we decide to go with for production...probably $75 for a tray and $40 or so for a top.

How many folks would want a 100 round tray, with the bolt holes to put (2) 50 round tops of different case head diameters on if desired? I'm basically brainstorming here, different people want different things, but in small runs prices are too high for anyone to be satisfied.

I would like to see a cup in the bottom so cases are less likely to tilt. The test tube holders in my chemistry lab have that and I have always incorporated that feature in my shell holders. I have my sized and primed cases in a tray to charge them with powder so tipping can be a problem.
As for the number of holes in the tray I have always used multiples of a standard box. 50, 100 or 20, 40, 60, or 100.

What do you mean by a cupped bottom exactly? Although the trays are sized about .01" over case diameter so they can't really tip much anyway.

Yes...but only for a specific case head diameter. Put on another top and it wouldn't help. The modularity is a big point to me, or else it's just a fancier way of making a billet tray.

I've been trying to get tray makers to make a tray with 60 holes for years...As mentioned earlier, it would be so nice to have 10 extra holes when doing a full box of 50....
