Butch & DJSBRS,

Please slow down guys, I dont believe Effendude's eloquent morning rant was intended to offend upstanding paying sponsors like yourselves. I know for a fact that my additional comments did not have you folks in mind and I also believe that you guys by being paying sponsors, YOU ARE SUPPORTING THIS SITE!

There are posters that subtly & not so subtly promote their own business interests, that are NOT paying advertisers like yourselves (which you should take umbrage with be pi$$ed at) and they do not contribute to the site freely either, which is the point I get ticked about and this is where "I" think Effendudes rant is directed.

A simple solution would be for the powers that be, to add or annotate a line under your user name that states, "Paid Sponsor" just like the site contributors have.

Just my two cents with no aim to tinkle in anybodys oatmeal...

Wow.... 4 posts, posted while typing my hotair..

Rod

Thanks for your post Rod and again to Dennis. Yes, it irks me a little when somebody promotes their items on the site. I believe our forum boss is good with that.
There is another accuracy forum that doesn't take the time to delete non paying advertisers, deceased advertisers, or the ones that are out of business. That not only cheats the paying advertisers, but the owner is losing money also.

Agree. Then there is no question, and if you don't frequent that forum, it's still easy to know...

Replying to the two post above:

You two plus any other advertisers should have a special notation stating so! Just like the site contributors are plainly shown!

I don't believe you should pay a fee to advertise, then pay donation fee!

We need to get a solution for paying advertisers!

good point

I will continue to donate and the only thing that urks me is people with 1 post and they are already selling, and sometimes it ends up being a scam, its rare but thats how it happens.Again I will donate as this is the best encyclopedia in the world.I will donate again just because. I am doing it right now and as far as nate lambeth is concerned he is ok with me , And I know he donates. We shouldnt get to whipped up either ,at this time last year my thread about donating got deleted as the forum boss didnt want to push people or shame them into donating. See ya,gotta donate NOW.LOL

I've created a new member group called "Site Sponsor". If there is a better title, perhaps "Contributing Vendor", I'll consider this as well. Maybe "Site Sponsor" is less desirable when our friends like Butch make general informational posts.

But we'll try this for now, until there is a consensus for a better tittle for representatives of current advertisers.

Does that suit everybody?

I'm with Butch on this one. There are ppl who will take advantage of anything, anywhere, and no matter what we do some of them will end up here. And then there are ppl who are working with companies large and small who actually have something of merit to offer to our sport/this site. Some will be contributors and some won't. I'm an electrician, my livelihood has nothing to do with this site but I don't think that we should judge a user solely on whether they are listed or not.

I think there is some common sense in what Mattri says below. Obviously I want people to contribute, as that helps pay the bills. But there are many "solid citizens" here who haven't contributed yet... but might do so in the future. Or maybe they contribute in non-financial ways -- such as by supplying match reports etc.. I think the real issue may be a handful of members who use the Classifieds very aggressively with no intent to give back anything. Some other sites charge for advertising, or put various restrictions on who can post classifieds. I don't want to go that route.

well i am not sure what to think now. I am new to this forum... i have sold one item and the add that i have on here reflects that i intend to donate a portion of this and, all future sales to this sight. I was reading a post the other day and realized that there is quite a lot of upkeep to a site like this. So i guess my question is ... should i feel guilty for reading the forum now? I was so excited to find a place to frequent that, was drama free..... now i am not sure.

Abiggdan -- You are most welcome to use the site, and we appreciate your participation. I think I can safely say that, all things considered, the "signal to noise ratio" is very good on this site, and 99% of the time you won't find a lot of drama -- just a lot of knowledgeable shooters offering solid advice in a non-adversarial exchange of ideas.

I think this is great the way you have changed it and should solve "all" concerns. I see no need to do anything else!

As the Boss has stated, don't feel guilty or have any other feelings.

This is a great site and everyone is welcome. I personally have learn more here than from any book I have ever read. I have also sold and bought a few items from this site!

There is NO other site like this on on the web.

We are glad to have you and your Welcomed to the site! If you have any questions, just let us know!

Guys,
I meant no offense to site sponsors. I didn't intend for this to go for three pages. I think the forum is awesome. What I was trying to get across, and Rod, my ghost writer, stated much better than I could, is that there seems to be a bunch of members who advertise themselves or their business as part of their signature line who are not contributors. For example, Jim Smith posts all the time and his signature after every post is www.accuracybeyondbelief.com and he is actively promoting his business without paying to support the site. These are the people I simply refuse to deal with. My choice, no one else has to agree with me. This site is always urging members for donations. Like any organization, there are those who contribute more than they receive. There is also those who put forth as little as they can and yet want it all. I, as a consumer, will spend my money with those who support the site.

Butch and other site sponsors, I don't personally know you, but I have much respect for all the sponsors of this site. I meant no offense. My point was simply to remind all forum members that if we don't support those who support the site, where will we go next? Maybe I am just getting to be a curmudgeon, but I put my money where my mouth is. I actively search out sponsors to do business with. The same way I round up at Midway and Brownells/Sinclair for the NRA.

I AGREE with the above!

Now we can identify vendors since the Boss has changed the members info and status.

People promoting their business who are not "Site Sponsors" are now easily identified.

I think the issue is solved!

i think i understand it all a little better..... i really like all the info and expertise that is on this site.... plan to be around here a long time. This is a valuable tool to have at our fingertips.

Under MARKETPLACE

COMMERCIAL SALES PAID BY SPONSERS

This means these people have paid the site the way I understand it and I am all for supporting any of them and I have bought items from some of them in the past. This is a great site and I hope we can keep it that way.

Site $$ Sponsor

Having this in their info area is the best. Sometimes they post valueable info in other areas of this site and "now" are easiely identified!

The more you surf this site, you will be amazed of the information available, or just ask, and you will get an answer to most of your questions or concerns.
