Gary? Will I be hurting this gun if I shoot jacketed bullets?

No , I just got hurt firing that thing prone . It did like 175-190 jacketed and 220 round nose . The cast loads were 190 and 208 gr ( I think ) at a nice 1100-1400 fps .

Oh, that aluminum butt plate has me worried. I’m going to man up and shoot it one outing as is but I’m trying to figure a way to fit a Pachmeyer pad without harming or changing the gun.:p

Just use a bag of shot between you and the butplate

Thanks, but that’s not a good solution. First, it makes the length of pull too long. Second, the kids would laugh at me. I need to do it sneaky. I went and took it apart. I can make a piece of Walnut spacer to mount a pad on.;) I’ll put the aluminum back on for the “tough guys”.

Josh, this is the scope bases on mine made and installed by Nick Hughes. Nick is the Mod17-Remington 30 Express guru. I will also show the bolt release that he made for me also.

Thanks for the pics, Butch! That is some nice work. It looks like you’re into a full “ground up” restoration of that one. I’ll give my favorite Florida gunsmith first shot at this one. It’s nice to know that they’re worth the effort. I’ve had some feedback inferring that they’re not.

I know that most of you have seen these, but I am pretty proud of it,
I could never get tired of looking at that gun. It’s superb! Just a beautiful work of art! What is it chambered in?

Ouch!.........:oops:I mean NICE! Have you taken any game with it yet? Shipping it would give me an ulcer.:(
