I must be dreaming!

Why send to your ffl, can't you just purchase a long gun in Colorado, even if you are from Texas? Handgun is a no-no IIRC, but thought long guns were OK?

Call it insurance. I’m driving around Colorado, then a two day drive back to Texas, staying in Hotels. It’s worth the $40 shipping charge not having to worry about my car getting broken into and losing it.

After the gun store, which jewelery store did she take you back to?

The jewelry store we had just left might of had something to do with it. I’m sure she was feeling a little guilty. End of the day, she spent more than I did.

By the way, they had a pre 64 Winchester Model 70 if any one is interested. It looked to be in fair condition for around $700 (I think. I looked at a few guns. Can’t remember the chambering. ) The store was Basalt Firearms in Basalt, Colorado.

My wife just tells me to get what I want. I go with that and I'll add what I can afford. She has said " I've never told you no".

ebb, ebb, ebb, You seriously need a deception adviser like me. If there is enough interest on this site,I could offer a seminar on "How to get it in the house". Let me know. Jeff Senior instructor at The Deception School of America.

Outasite This was many years ago when I still had young kids at home, and finances were kinda tight. In the 80 and 90s construction as now had many ups and downs, and I was just starting to hunt some. I had a Ruger standard 22lr pistol, a model 28 S&W 357 and a 12 gage shotgun. I had never fired a centerfire rifle and had thought they were like a 22. A friend let me shoot a 30-06 and I suddenly had an AWAKENING. I immediately started a fund for a rifle. Work had been slow and I had some side work but wasn't thriving and my carpenters insurance was not getting enough hours recorded to keep up the policy. The hardware in the closest little town had guns and I saw 4 marlin 45-70 lever action rifles and that was what my slush fund was for. If work was canceled due to rain I would pick up beer cans in the rain to sell for scrap for my rifle. I had almost enough money and came home and one of the kids was feeling bad when I had gone to work. The wife says I had to take Sarai to the doctor, your rifle money is gone. Oh well I loved my kids and it is a small price. every time I got close one of the rug rays had to go see this bitch called Dr Fernandez and my money was gone. This happened 6 or 7 times and I was not even close. Years had passed then I noticed at the hardware one of the marlins was gone. I told the wife scrounge up all the money you can find and I am going to get the marlin. So Friday I get home with the check and she says I need this much to get to next paycheck, grab your slush fund and lets go. So I get to the hardware and all the marlins are gone. I ask Mr Moore where are the marlins? He says you saw the one gone last week right? Yes. Well he went shooting with his friends and they liked it so much they all came and bought a gun. They were on the rack priced at $190 and had been there for years with me lusting after one. So the wife says why don't you order one. He looks up in the book and now they are more money way more money. I never did get a marlin 45-70. Work got better, the wife graduated college and got a job teaching and kids were growing out of an ear infection every 6 weeks. I had a little more money and after 3 1/2 years saving for a marlin that I never got I bought a used Remington 30-06. After that I went just a little crazy. They wife and kids would say every time I left the house alone I would come home with a new rifle, they were mistaken but not by much. My wife is a 4 time(in the senior class) national champion archer. Every now and then she will say, better start looking for a gun the new Hoyts are out. I haven't had to hid one in many years, but I have out grown a big browning safe and need a new safe for the over flow

I would go to each gun show with 2 gun cases and one was empty so when I came back they were both full telling her I couldnt sell them.

A couple of months ago I showed my wife a photo of a .22 for sale with a really stunning piece of wood. She said "You need to buy that." I couldn't get my credit card out fast enough.
