So what you show in the chamber wall, whatever it is, has NOTHING to do with what your brass shows.

That doesn't look like a crack in the chamber wall to me, that looks like an errant black thread. As for the shoulder dent/dents in your brass, that looks like a bit too much sizing lube but without an image of your chamber shoulder that's just a guess.

Neither of which would explain why the bolt wouldn't close.

So you have 3 mysteries to solve.

The case marks look like powder in the chamber to me ( ask me how I know...)

I've had those same marks in the same place on suppressed guns. If I carried muzzle up, occasionally some carbon would fall into the chamber.

Always swab out the chamber after cleaning with dry patches.*******
A 90• look at the 'crack' would be interesting.
Swab it out and look again.
Bore scopes make a tiny tiny scratch, thread, wet spot look like the grand cannon & a flood.

NONE of my loaded brass shows any sign of the dent. I've done the too much lube thing before.... I figured that one out about 30 years ago. The dent is ONLY on FIRED brass, not loaded.

Also, I have no clue where a black thread would come from...everything I use is white, and I don't ever use my nylon brush.

I ALWAYS clean my chamber with a mop covered with new patches. Dry patches first followed by wetting the patches with brake cleaner. Same with the action and my action cleaning tool. Also, I wipe down all of my loaded rounds with break cleaner before their last trip into the shell box.

OK....1 part of mystery solved. Now that things are cleaned up I took my bolt apart and tried chambering the loaded rounds again. Old rounds that I loaded weeks ago now chamber fine. NEW loaded ammo DOES NOT LOAD. I must have either tweeked my FL die or loaded my OAL TOO LONG. Anyway, chambering issue solved.

Part 2 Thinking something was stuck to the shoulder area of the chamber which i must have now cleaned out and that was causing/adding to my chambering issue. Call that one solved too.

Onward to the cracking. I will remove the bbl tonight and try figure out the lighting/90 degree lens thing and get back to you guys.

I am wanting to hear how the pic or paperclip did? Could you get anything to hang up in the crack or mark or what ever that is? At first i remembered a thing I read here about using a parting tool too aggressively could cause damage and thought that maybe that was the issue, but it too far forward of where the barrel may have been cut parting tool or not.

I will try that, but it will be MUCH easer after I remove the BBL. Makes me wish I had kept all of my grandpa's dentist tools....lots of different picks and stuff.

I still highly doubt those are cracks simply because it's damn near impossible but the pics, which can be deceiving, look enough like cracks that I'd want to be very sure before proceeding. No use getting worked up over a camera anomaly.

I also say those are just marks in the chamber from brass being extracted. You can buy dental pics at Harbor Freight. Taking the barrel off will make it easier to see but if you can't see it in the 90 degree lens that is basically telling you there is nothing there, maybe just a small mark

Try wrapping tape or something around the borescope so it will stay centered in the chamber and you will be able to focus and get a better picture.

Hard to say, could be just something that was floating around and would up on your brush. I'd clean it again with an aerosol spray or something then have another look.

Great point. I used to get all kinds of shavings before I started using a possum hallow bore guide.

Yes I do. A quick mop job with wet patches should at least move them enough to know, if not remove them all together . I will give that a try before removing my BBL.
